McGladrey Classic

McGladrey Classic Just when you thought the golf season was winding down, not so fast my friend, golf betting is year round, with the Fall Series, Grand Slam, Silly Season, Champions Tour and starting in November the European Tour kicks off it's 2011 season, (don't ask why, they have done this for years). The McGladrey Classic is a new event that has been put together by sponsors and the Sea Island Ga area people namely Davis Love III who is the tournament host. (and too busy to back in matchups) The Seaside Course will play to a par 70 at 7055 yards is fairly tight off the tee, but has decent size greens. Wind usually comes off the coast and can make a huge difference in the scoring. Jonathan Byrd +115 vs Matt Kuchar The Seaside Course is Byrd's home course. How significant is that? Well I'd make a size-able bet that if the Tour came to our home course, that my son Matt would stand a better than average chance of making the cut and a Top 30 finish. Your handicap at your home course is 3-5 shots better than anywhere else. Byrd knows every blade of grass on this track, the site lines, which holes to lay up on, which to be aggressive, which pins to attack etc.. Kuch lost to Poutler (we cashed) in singles matchplay at the Ryder Cup, sorry I should say was lambasted by Poulter 5&4! Who knows how that will affect him going forward. He wasn't seen in tears in the press center afterwards like Hunter Mahan......one more time.....Ole...ole ole ole...ole ole! The Ryder Cup ended on Monday not Sunday. So now, Kuch and the rest of the USA team fly out Monday night (sans Tiger who came with his own G4 jet) tired, embarrassed and worn out. They lose time flying home and get in Tuesday evening and for Zach Johnson, Kuch and DL3 they don't get to the Seaside Course until Wednesday, or if they are so tired just show up on Thursday and tee off. We know Zach practiced today, no sign of Kuch. Kuch just moved last month to the Sea Island/St. Simons area and feels obligated to play in this event. Byrd was T5 LW at the Viking Classic. Brendon de Jonge -110 vs Charlie Wi BDJ was T3 LW at the Viking Classic. Wi was T29. BDJ said today on Golf Central that this is his last event on Tour this year, he will be going home to South Africa. He ranks 33rd on the Money List and desperately wants to get into the Top 30 where all majors and WGC events become exempt. I cannot tell you how important that is to a player out on Tour.
Good stuff Alf! I bought Zach over Kuch in the first round +110, with a little modification that if DL3 finishes first the bet is cancelled and if DL3 finished tied first the bet is reduced (played on Zach and against Kuch on Betfair to take out DL3 - a bit technical if you havent seen it done :-)
