Memorial Match-Ups

Memorial Match-Ups Two for me and both are based on fading Luke Donald. In my opinion, Donald is the best player in golf right now, but this is just a terrible spot to expect him to perform. In a football analogy, this spot is similar to coming off a rivalry game and playing a weak out of conference team with another huge game on deck. This is a great spot to get plus money with a couple of guys who are rested and will be focused on getting things going heading into Congressional. Donald just wants to get through the week and get some much needed rest. Phil Mickelson +149 over Luke Donald (Tournament) Matt Kuchar +118 over Luke Donald (Tournament)
Well junkie you certainly are getting the best of the number, didn't Luke open -120? There are many punters out there who for the last couple of years have bet nothing but Luke Donald in matchups and reaped the rewards. The reason? They love betting his stats. Last 2 years it was scoring average and now its his short game, plus all-around and the No.#1 ranking etc... I will caution you with this, in golf matchup betting, it is much easier to win bets going against guys who are struggling, because it is so much easier to be consistently off form. I like your thinking, he has said he will go early next week to Congressional for tune-up/practice rounds. We may play against Luke in the U.S. Open and that erratic driver of his. He has played very well here at Murfield though, good luck.
Thanks for your thoughts Alf, very much appreciated. Luke D. could very well take my money this week and, if he does, I will tip my cap to him because everything points against a good performance here. Going back two weeks, he played 5 rounds at the Volvo match-play, only to lose a heartbreaker in the final to Poulter (and again miss a chance at the world No. 1, just like Hilton Head). Then he follows up with the Euro tour flagship event on a very, very difficult major championship course in Wentworth, and has to grind back from a horrible front 9 on Sunday to get into a playoff and beat Westwood; and finally achieve the No. 1 world ranking. He now crosses the Atlantic to play a demanding Muirfield course and you have to ask how much is left in the tank. He may scrape by for a round or two with decent play, but I have to think he will run out of gas by the weekend and falter. Plus, on the other side, I get a well-rested Phil Mickelson (who plays Muirfield pretty well himself) and maybe the most consistent American over the past year in Matt Kuchar. I will take my chances and get plus money doing it. Love your thought of fading Donald at Congressional. The length that that course will play will eat him alive if he isn't driving it well, and we both know that is the weakest part of his game. Thanks again and good luck this week with KJ Choi, it looks like a great play.
The double on 18 cost me a 2.49 unit swing. Fuckin Mickelson.

I played the Mickelson bet. It was an excellent bet as the number came back down significantly. I didn't play your Kuchar bet so I don't have the winner either you had. Look forward to more from you.
