My First "Fire Sale" Play Even though, I don't handicap NHL sides, I had to make an exception tonight. I played Ottawa -115. Yesterday, the equipment van holding all of the Minnesota Wild's hockey gear badly burned in the Ottawa parking lot.It was discovered that the goalie equipment for both netminders was ruined.Today, the Wild called up a minor league goalie with zero NHL experience( only because he has usable goalie gear).Most players have custom made braces,sticks, pads, gloves,helmets and skates.It takes a long time for a player to break in a new pair of skates ( most replace the blades on a consistent basis).New gloves,skates and pads will be stiff and uncomfortable.If the Wild players suit up with new equipment for tonight's contest, they will be playing at a severe disadvantage. Even though, Minnestota is a better team than Ottawa and I suck at betting sides, I had to "fire" in a bet on the Senators at a relatively cheap price of -115.Let's hope that Ottawa "smokes" them tonight. charliej

Dude: Backstrom and Harding are the Wild's goalies. You will notice that all of their equipmemt was ruined. I am a horrible "sides" handicapper. However, common sense would indicate that Ottawa should be playing with an advanatge tonight. In addition to the lack of equipment,Minnesota has a number of players with the flu.Some may not play. However, all of these Ottawa advantages may be trumped by my lack of success betting sides. charliej
