NHL for tonight A couple of observations and questions but there has been a large move on the Devils in their game against the Leafs. The Leafs opened about a -128 favourite at Pinnacle but the Devils are now -105. The Devils are on a losing streak and the Leafs played last night and beat the Rangers in New York.
I find Leafs games get a lot of movement generally with a large fan base and probably a large number of bettors in the Toronto area one tends to find lots of bets in their games with off numbers as I think for hockey they got a lot of action. And if one is near a Station Casinos in Las Vegas my screen says they still have the Devils +110.
The Leafs will start Reimer in goal tonight in his first game in over a month. Perhaps there is some thought that he won't be sharp tonight. The Devils are starting Brodeur who hasn't been sharp at all and perhaps there is a thought that he will be sharp tonight.
Based on the records it is hard not to agree with the original number that the Leafs should be favoured perhaps some adjustment for the back to back situations following last night's game in New York. But It is just not a difficult trip. Leafs have struggled at home recently but I'd almost think they're due for a good game there.
I don't see any new major injuries although Grabovski is questionable. I'd be interested in any take on this game but there has to be clear value on the Leafs at this price playing at home with their starting goalie back vs. a team perhaps in a good contrary spot to break a steak but one the Leafs have established themselves to be power rating superior to so far.
In another game the Bruins are -135 vs. the Jets in Winnipeg. I can't say the line is out of whack here as the Bruins have not lost in 15 games is it now? and are the Stanley Cup champs with a deep roster. But it is still just a hockey game and the Bruins had a big win over Pittsburgh last night. They allowed alot of shots I read but I might theorize that might be the cap to the streak. They have a big game with Florida on Thursday at home. It is going to be 3 games in 4 nights then and I have to think one of these games won't be their best effort. Pittsburgh to Winnipeg although not a huge travel overnight is probably more than most for an overnight trip as Winnipeg is a fair distance north even though it is still central time.
The Jets are playing well of late and they have an energized fan base I would think looking forward to this game. I'm sure it will be an excited building and that may even help the Bruins but I think I'll put a puck line bet on the Jets tonight. The best number was overnight which clearly represented good value but I'm inclined to follow this play down and I'll take +130 or +1.5-250 even.
