I went to Game 2 of SJ/Det. The crowd wasn't in it till the 5-on-3 that got the score tied in the third. The winning goal? Because of a broken stick. Detroit played with no discipline. The Sharks played as if it were a regular season game. That's what they do.
I still think Detroit has a good chance to win this series. They lost both games because the Sharks had a flurry of goals (3 in 79 seconds in Game 1 and the two first period goals in Game 2). Howard is a young goalie who, in my experience of watching him, will get off track. It happened vs. Phoenix, too.
I'd originally said the winner of the Phx/Det series will go to the conference finals, and I still believe it. If the Sharks were poker players, they would be suffering from FPS (fancy play syndrome). I don't see how they can even compete tonight. And if I can take the Wings -1.5 +180, I am going to do it.
As far as the other game goes, the Canadiens won one in Pitt and are a +145 dog at home vs the Pens? Well, I will put it this way: I could take the Sharks +140, and I am not. I think it is more likely that the Habs win tonight than the Sharks do. To me, that makes MTL a relative value play here.
