NHL Sun 10/10/10 2-1 yesterday
6-2, +4.45
53 Florida (+135)
Edmonton won the first Battle of Alberta by shutting out the Calgary Flames 4-0 on Thurs. Now they get the Florida Panthers who play their first game tonight. This is more of a play against the Oilers.
The Oilers youngsters will be fun to watch all year with three former or current 1st-rounders now playing with the big club (Jordan Eberle, #1 overall pick Taylor Hall and Magnus Paajarvi). They will show flashes of brilliance and then they'll lose to a team they should beat, like Florida.
Florida will struggle to score goals, but they have a really good goaltender in Tomas Vokoun, who will likely get dealt at the deadline. Florida's new GM Dale Tallon, acquired and drafted most of the talent that won the Cup last year in Chicago. They are building for the future, but this is a bad spot for Edmonton.
56 Calgary (-115)
The Kings got a little taste of revenge last night by winning in Vancouver, who eliminated the Kings from the playoffs last season and are likely the favorite or co-fav in the West this year.
Calgary is off an embarrassing loss in Edmonton.
