Pacquiao vs Mosley (May 7th)

Pacquiao vs Mosley (May 7th) Don' be fooled by the talk, this is yet another complete mismatch. Just like the last big fight for Mosley against Mayweather, he has the slightest chance in the first few rounds. Likely little opportunity to get a bet in as I think it opens north of -300.
I always liked Mosley, but I couldn't agree more.... this is a total mismatch. I would have preferred to see Pacquaio vs JMM III versus this one.

Mosley's 40 come fight day. He's already struggling to pull the trigger on his punches. Pacquiao will make it worse. He's not a face forward fighter willing to take punches to land and his footwork has diminished. Pacquiao going away.
Typical Pac Man opponent...A big name whose best days are way behind him. What a puss!
Typical Pac Man opponent...A big name whose best days are way behind him. What a puss!
Now if you said typical Mayweather opponent, I'd agree with you.
Now if you said typical Mayweather opponent, I'd agree with you.
Yeah they both use the same formula...Pretty much extends their big paydays I suppose.
if mosley's head swells up to the size of a jack-o-lantern again, i'll shop around for some +700 or better. if his head is normal size, he has no chance....
Yeah they both use the same formula...Pretty much extends their big paydays I suppose.
Am I getting old, or am I correct in asking what happened to the days of Leonard vs Hearns & Hagler, Leonard vs Duran, Hearns vs Hagler (greatest 3 round fight in the history of boxing?) or, or the Ali-Frazier-Norton-Foreman (insert any of them vs. any one of the others) round-robin great fights. These guys couldn't wait to put it all on the line in their quest for greatness and immortality, and merely in the fact of attempting it, they achieved it. Now it's paper-champs, punk-ass, washed-up, has-been opponents with nothing left but a half-way recognizable name. And we're supposed to be impressed by watching Pac beat up on Moseley's bones. This fight better go down on a slow sports weekend if they want to get anyone who doesn't have roots in the Phillipines to shell out $49.99 for this poor excuse for a big fight. Mayweather-Pac should be having the rematch already, for Jeez's sake. Boxing sucks right now.
It wasn't to different back then. You imagine that they where dieing to fight one another. It was that the only way to make any money was to fight the best. It could easily be argued it is far better today. Many more fighters make a lot more money then in the past. Less known fighters can make 100's of thousands of dollars fighting. Back then, only a handful of fighters made much of anything. Today the belts have become a joke because of the people's greed that run those organizations. The only way they make money is the licensing of there belt for a particular fight. Now every belt issuing organization has two or three times as many belts per weight class. It really isn't that big of a deal. Today there are 2 fighters that control the money. Let us be honest, would you fight for pride or a belt if you where Pacquiao instead of fighting past there prime fighters for 50 million? Easy decision.
You might make the case that it's "better today" for the fighters, but it was more entertaining (for the fan) back in the 70s and 80s. And yes, Hagler-Hearns was THE best 3 round fight you'll EVER see. My buddies and I paid $20 to get in the Rosemont Horizon. While the fight was over pretty quick, it was worth every penny.
