Peterson vs. Rios (9/11) reposted to correct thread This is a very interesting fight against two of the very best lightweight prospects. Both are undefeated and both boast good to very good KO rates. Both had excellent amateur careers and this should be an exciting fight. Since turning Pro, Peterson has fought about 50 more rounds then Rios and has fought better competition. Rios would seem to have more power but like I said he's fought less opponents so it might be a bit deceptive. I think that this fight comes down to this. Speed. Rios is quick, Peterson is blindingly fast. Peterson has a 4 inch reach advantage and I believe the better overall boxing skills. This will be a tight fight but I believe that Peterson is just a bit better then Rios. Reduced on 5dimes, I got Peterson -160. I bet 2 units on him. GL
Peterson rehydrates to 139 (5 pounds) Rios to 151 (17 pounds) Hate that size difference but 17 pounds is like 14 percent way to much he'll likely fade.
Peterson, while losing the fight got DQ'd for low blows. Peterson refused or couldn't listen to his corner to fight from the outside. He absolutely dominated the first round from distance but stopped doing it. Hard to understand. He was fighting Rios' fight and was well on his way to lose. I think Rios would have faded further and Peterson had a chance.
