Pittsburgh/NY Islanders Friday night The Penguins are without Sid, Malkin, Kunitz, Letestu and Cooke is suspended. I think I read a stat that over half their goals scored this year are out of the lineup. I'm very impressed they beat the Kings tonight. Didn't see the game. I thought the odds were correct on that making LA the not that small a favourite around -130 I saw near puck drop. I think the oddsmakers respect LA more than they should and part of the reason they got the odds closer to what I thought in this game.
Penguins play the Isles Friday night and the Penguins are -130 at Pinnacle for this game. The Islanders played well and beat Montreal tonight.
If I were just gauging what the fair odds might be I have to say the Islanders aren't a bad play at +120 and to be honest I think they could even be small favourite in the game.
Pittsburgh owns them in previous matchups but don't see how they are that applicable here.
Pittsburgh probably as high as 72% vs. the Islanders if they were healthy and at home. With the injuries even at home I think they would have to fall to 60% with this roster even against the Isles and on the road even against the Islanders got to be closer to just 50%. Early indications are Johnson in goal. An okay goalie and probably better than the Islanders goalie Toskinen I think who has only played a few games. But he looked good in the 3rd and shootout I saw.
I know the oddsmakers are very aware but they're underestimating the Islanders IMO and not quite adjusting enough for Pittsburgh's injuries.
