Rodriguez vs. Wolak (7/15)

Rodriguez vs. Wolak (7/15) Friday night fights on ESPN2. Rodriguez, who last time out was robbed against Theophane. A real robbery, not that crap Williams fight that people think was a robbery.) Wolak is a highly aggressive fighter. He comes forward and throws in bunches. It isn't pretty but it is effective. Rodiguez is a slick boxer but he hasn't shown the ability to fight on the inside. He'll try to run for much of this fight and use his jab and uppercuts to keep Wolak at bay. It isn't likely to work. Wolak is just to relentless. Yes there is a chance that Rodriguez can catch Wolak on the way in with some powerful uppercuts but I'm not certain that he can stop Wolak. Rodriguez also faded badly against Theophane at the end of the fight. The added weight may help Rodriguez as he's a tall guy. Normally, power doesn't go up as the fighter moves up in weight class. If he doesn't have legit power at 154, he'll get taken out in this fight. Rodriguez will likely look good for 3 or 4 rounds but I think he eventually gets overwhelmed by the pressure Wolak brings. I recommend the UNDER 9.5 at -110. I think someone is getting stopped and that is more likely to be Rodriguez. GL
I tickle bet Rodriguez as well. at +475 its worth the hedge. Maybe he'll show us something at the new weight. I bet .2 units on Rodriguez.
any opinion on magdaleno vs. perez fight? thank you.
Perez may be dangerous here but he only had one round of action in the last 2 or 3 years. Magdaleno will eventually run into someone that cleans his clock but I don't see Perez being the guy to do it. Perez has never fought a southpaw before and that is troubling. It may be an entertaining fight, but I think that Magdaleno will get it done. Opening odds sucked and now there are far worse. No O/U was posted on either of my sites. If you want to gamble small bet Perez at huge odds. I pass on this fight.

Majority draw. This is likely a fight of the year candidate. Easily the best fight I've seen this year. I had Rodriguez winning the fight on clean effective punching.
Great fight, you would think there be a rematch of this one. Tru any thoughts on the doctor's decision to let Wolak keep fighting with that eye - looked brutal
Yes, he didn't do his job. It isn't the hematoma that needed to be addressed. Though often a hematoma like that is an indication that the Orbital bone is broken. It was that his eye was clearly closed. The doctor's main job is to protect the fighters from themselves. We heard Wolak after the fight and he said his eye was closed. The doctor should be fired. Like I said, it was a fantastic fight, but it should have been stopped. (Glad it wasn't, as it was a GREAT fight)
Byrd is TERRIBLE and has been TERRIBLE for years. He needs to retire.
