They won't announce changes until tomorrow.
Regarding the addition of sand to the track, it's my understanding that they lost some during the recent rainstorms out there, and are simply replacing it. Those rainstorms of course hit the track prior to the opening of the meet, so whether that had anything to do with the lightning-fast times that have been recorded thus far, well, I guess it might've. Regardless of the cause however, obviously they'll be trying to slow the surface down some given the eye-popping times and pronounced speed bias. It'll be interesting to see what the times are like tomorrow, and throughout the remainder of the meet.
