Shell Houston Open

Thanks for understanding Mags and Burger! We decided not to give a heads up as to when I will post. Too many guys here will pound the market to play middles, scalps and some of the sportsbooks are subscribers right here at LVASports. (at the low price of $25 a month its worth it for them don't you think) They do not want to get one-sided on anything.
Let's be serious. The people complaining about the Wednesday posting of matchups and the high juice had probably never bet golf in their life. You can't please everyone, but you know the market well, and that's why you originally posted on Wednesday..
So, in order to try and get the matchups to you with close to the best prices, I need to start posting and getting these out much earlier, like Tuesday afternoon or evening. I will do my best.
And as I pointed out last week, the limits are super low on Tuesdays and few books have the matchups up. I saw your post within minutes last week and couldn't get within 20 cents of the posted lines at a legitimate book, since most books hadn't even put the matchups up yet. I don't know who was "complaining" about the Wednesday postings other maybe than people who'd never bet golf matchups before and may have been expecting to be able to bet them many hours after the fact like you could an NFL side.
The Greek and Sportsbook.com have 90% of the same matchups everyone else has up MONDAY MORNING!........AND YOU ARE COMPLAINING YOU GET THEM TUESDAY AFTERNOON???
Why are you mentioning sportsbook.com? The last time you mentioned the matchups being available there, I mentioned they were crooks and Anthony requested that I elaborate, so I posted several thousand words about why they're crooks. I hope I didn't waste my time explaining why sportsbook.com is a shit book, but by mentioning sportsbook.com you are doing a disservice to the LVA readers.
I'm biting my tongue here believe me.
Trust me, so am I. By your tone one would almost think that you were paying us to post here.
My 4 cents... 1. YES, it is a very small market, but... There should be a "fair/happy medium" posting time that we could agree upon. IMO, at least wait until 3 books (pinny, Jazz, and CRIS, the order in which the shops open)on the main (DB) screen have the lines posted. NO, we will not be able to get down "5-10K" per play, but a fair enough amount. 2. I understand Alf's point on guys betting "the obvious" matchups and some of those will be hit early and will not be able to be bet but by a select few (small betting) individuals. However, today was a bit early, and that was pointed out clearly and accurately by Twoniner. 3. There is just no way to have a posted record as good as anyone would like it, UNLESS we are posting and plowing openers. It is the equivalent of a CBB totals handicapper releasing plays overnight when CRIS posts the 1st and only #. 4. As I type this now, at 10:40pm PST Tuesday night, there are 3 main screen (reliable) books open. Most weeks, by Wed at 10am PST, there are these 3 open and some of their clones, so it expands the market, so more folks could get a fair shake at the #. This is the most practical approach IMO, for more than 1 person to get down. It would allow for more than 1 person to bet a nickel to 2 dimes per play (not being to greedy) if we waited until ~10am PST. As always Alf, we appreciate your hard work and for posting your plays. Good Luck

Skrtelfan as far as Sportsbook.com goes.... I'm not going to ....nor have I recommended any sportsbook on LVASports. For your information Sportbook.com is the leader for the past 5 years at posting matchups first and early. Pinnacle, Cris, 5 Dimes, Matchbook etc all COPY Sportsbook.com. This is extremely important to know for anyone betting golf. Figure it out.
My opinion is there is no way to make a lot of people happy given the nature of the market no matter what you do. The problems of handicapping and releasing winning plays in a small market don't seem to change: 1.It is very difficult to get the close ("close" defined as still a positive EV wager)to the release number without years of experience in betting, and then it's still very tough. 2.The limits are very small for a serious bettor, hence for him/her it is usually hard to get the desired bet size down. 3.Every year there is a new influx of bettors that will probably take a year or two to either get adjusted to the the nature of these plays & this market and/or just decide it ain't worth it. And they will make the handicapper's life a living hell during that time. If it were me, I'd scrap this small market handicapping service, bet my own plays if I wasn't already, take my winnings and call it a day on this market. I have a low tolerance for interpersonal difficulties (aka, dumbshit) however. One particular guy on this site I would have stalked, tortured and killed by now. Good luck with the small-market handicapping service biz Alf, you're a better man than me.:)

I don't personally originate golf matchups so I'll have to take your word for it, but if sportsbook.com is the leader in posting matchups first and early, that's even more reason to wait until more books put the matchups up since the "leader" is a scam book.
I think it is great people complain about Alf posting info. Forumville never changes. I for one am glad he posts them at all. I'll take them when I can get them, end of story.
I wasn't going to repeat myself, but because TheChosenOne is saying the same thing, I'll just quote one of my favorite lines from The Simpsons: My neck is sore from agreeing so much. The point isn't records: We know Alf is good. Y'all act as if Alf is the only one that moves these lines. The market is too illiquid to please everybody.
I do not agree
I wasn't going to repeat myself, but because TheChosenOne is saying the same thing, I'll just quote one of my favorite lines from The Simpsons: My neck is sore from agreeing so much. The point isn't records: We know Alf is good. Y'all act as if Alf is the only one that moves these lines. The market is too illiquid to please everybody.
Anyone can look at the line history after release: The main point of the thread is simply this-On screen outs at the available # at time of release-total gross $ volume $850 dollars. That's $500 at pinny, $250 at Jazz, and $100 at 5 dimes. They were all hit between 3-4 times, and the lines now sit at about 40 cents worse on 2 matches and 60 on the other. Total gross bets about $3400 dollars. Again there are many ways to do this-the point of the thread is there a "better way"? Its not the the "thank you" for posting, that should be obvious. Although the cost is minimal-there is a cost. If you think I am wrong so be it. I think the cost affords all the ability to post opinions on the fact that there is a number of better ways to skin the cat. To me the answer is obvious. A. I would spend the $3400 myself betting the wrong way. Since the lines move on average 50 cents at worst they come back to original #-at best they become WA at a better #. I would do it till the books got a clue. Please do not chime in can not be done. All I can say is: college basketball totals. A much larger market where I was able to move totals 1.5 to 2 points all the way through the first four days of the tourny saving us on at least 6 occasions this year. End result-the books never "got it". or B. Safer, but about $40k is available at 10 AM or so when Pinny goes to $2000 on Wed AM. Therefore it makes much more sense to release sometime between 10-11. I for one do not care if Alf releases less plays because one got away upon waiting. In the end any release before 10:30 AM on Wednesday gets his group down and maybe 4 subscribers.
