Should I hedge on Dustin, or not?

Should I hedge on Dustin, or not? Took Wyndham.Jimmy's suggestion and played Dustin Johnson @ 40-1 for $50. Now I'm thinking hedge and get a nice winner, but less than if I let it ride. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh yea, thanks for the situation I'm in WJ! Nipsy
Nipsy, to hedge, rather than bet on other golfers and rely on them to win at odds, you could hedge with the "No" that Dustin Johnson will not win the US Open. If this were a team sport event, I'd hedge right down the middle and take a nice guarantee. But in this spot, I'd hedge significantly less. We bet on Rickie Fowler with a 3 shot lead at the Memorial BUT lost. A 3 shot lead has been money in the bank, now at 16-3 L3 seasons....and for the record at +100 and I've seen +115, I will bet on DJ to win.
Absolutely not. This kid is going to win the thing. Ernie or Tiger isn't going to scare him. He made a couple small mistakes and fell 1 back of McDowell but would rebound right away. That showed me his toughness right there.
Thanks Fellas, Did take a piece of McDowell and Tiger to win. Got somthing. Guess we're 16-4 now. Nipsy

Wish I would have. I didn't hedge any and got smoked on the tourney. In hindsight, which of course is always 20-20, it seems that if you have a 40-1 shot a hedge of 5% of your win so that you would still double your money on a loss is a small price to pay for some piece of mind.
