Sunderland - Pick'em/-.5 goals over Birmingham in Week 1 of Englis Premier League

Sunderland - Pick'em/-.5 goals over Birmingham in Week 1 of Englis Premier League I laid 1.10 at Pick'em and -.5 goals over Birmingham in Week 1 of the EPL. Now I got down at Pinny as they are taking two dime bets. Once I played it they immediately took it offline. They will let the action continue on this though and both of these teams have players I think of very highly. Joe Hart is the Goalkeeper for Birmingham and really should have started for England in the World Cup, but politics and Fabio Capello being who he is rather put Green or the aging David James to protect the net for the Three Lions. That being what it is, Birmingham has struggled on the road and Hart has as well, giving up nearly one more goal on their road games through the 2009-2010 campaign as they do at home (.68 goals at home vs. 1.78 goals on the road). The less than stellar defense is coupled with an equally inept offense that is really going to struggle this year to find goal scorers. I am playing for a lot of early season value on Sunderland as they gained three spots in the EPL table to finish last year in 13th, up from 16th in the 08-09 campaign. The Stadium of Light was a refuge last year as they played a very respectable 9 wins, 7 draws, and 2 losses. I like what Sunderland has done in the summer signing Keiren Richardson to a three-year deal and picking up Cristian Riveros, who had a solid world cup for Paraguay. They also strengthened their midfield and back line with Titus Bramble, Argentina's Marcos Angeleri, and battle-tested Egyptian defender Ahmed Al-Muhammadi. One notable loss some may be familiar with is John Mensah, the Ghanaian defender on loan from Olympique Lyonais last season. The net result is a season which sees the Wearsiders break back to the top half of the table and sees them as one of the real early season values in European Soccer...
Good to see you posting up some early soccer, John.
Quick note and I forgot that Joe Hart, the goalkeeper for Birmingham last season was on loan from Manchester City. He won't be playing in this game and the rumors out today in the transfer market are that Sunderland is looking to make a move for him from Manchester City...That would be quite a coup...
Darren Bent not playing in English International Darren Bent, who was Sunderland's key scorer last year with 24 goals, didn't play for the English National side today in their friendly vs. Hungary and is questionable for Saturday's game vs. Birmingham City. The line at Pinnacle has moved in favor of Birmingham as now Sunderland is -1.08 vs. the -1.17 they were laying...I haven't done anything with my play yet. Bent had a sore back which was a contributing factor in him missing games last season and Sunderland hitting a rough stretch in Jan/Feb/March of the 2009-2010 campaign... Here is the link from the Sunderland Echo in England which I read every day... https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/Bent-injury-has-Bruce-sweating.6466349.jp

do you still like this play?
Yes...I'm still on it. You can now lay -1.04 and I am with it it and haven't hedged off anything...I believe Bent's move to not play in the England friendly against Hungary is just as much about Capello's snub of him in the World Cup as it was about his back injury and even the slightest inkling of pain would be used as an excuse. Capello has clearly rubbed the players the wrong way and I think Bent will start tomorrow and Sunderland will win at home. The Black Cats have just secured John Mensah on loan for another year and have some other key signings, although they weren't able to get Hart from Man City which was speculated upon earlier in the week...
