Tavoris Cloud vs Glen Johnson (8/7) This Saturday, The undefeated Tavoris Cloud defends his IBF Light Heavyweight belt. His opponent is the pro's pro Glen Johnson.
Picking the winner of this fight is difficult but I think the prices offered for this fight are just too good to pass on.
This should be an absolute war. Neither of these guys backs down. A lot of leather will be thrown around. Cloud, in 20 fights has 18 Knockouts. Johnson in 63 fights has 34 knockouts. It needs to be pointed out that Johnson's knockout ratio could easily be higher but for the fact that in 5 of his fights he fought Hopkins, Tarver, Woods and Chad Dawson twice. He has legitimate power if not elite power.
Cloud has only fought once since 8/2008 while Johnson has fought at least twice every year since 2002. (yes I had to look it up)
In my mind, Cloud is still a bit of an unknown. His two quality wins where against faded fighters. He beat Julio Cesar Gonzalez who was coming off two straight loses and it was his last fight.
He also beat the 37 year old Clinton Woods. Woods also retired after this fight. To call these two, high quality is a bit of a reach considering there ages and the number of fights they both had fought.
Will this fight be the end of Glen Johnson's run as a top fighter? Will this be the coming out party for Cloud?
If only we really knew...
I was going to pass on this fight but the numbers are just to good to pass on.
I'm recommending two bets on this fight. (straddle bet?)
I think that Glen Johnson has a good chance of winning this fight. He applies relentless pressure and I wonder if Cloud can handle that pressure. Johnson just never stops coming.
Though I could be wrong, I also think that Cloud could be "that" good. He has a decent chance of knocking Johnson out. Just as Johnson has a chance. I don't think Cloud's body and chin have been tested like Johnson will test them.
Okay, the bets.
I got Johnson at +230 (5dimes)
I also took UNDER 11.5 at +130 (bodog)
1 unit each.
