Transitions Championship Tournament Matchups The Transitions Championship is held at the Copperhead Course of the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla. The par 71 layout will play at 7, 340 yards. A difficult track to say the least where the winning score is usually less than -10 under par.
A good friend of mine who works for the Golf Channel was on site and gave me the following report: The greens are super fast and firm. Faster than any greens they have played to date on the PGA Tour. He walked inside the ropes with Padraig Harrington and asked him several questions. Harrington said he would take -8 under par and run to the clubhouse and that this week will really test the new grooves with the firm and fast greens. Chipping and pitch shots inside 50 yards will be diffilcult.
So, short game is going to be at a premium and GIR will dictate the winner.
Bryce Molder -170 vs. Adam Scott
We cashed last week with Molder and we are right back with him here against Scott who still hasn't found any form. Molder has three straight Top 10 finishes and last week in the Puerto Rico Open closed with a 65 and 66. And I will mention again that I believe Molder is the best putter on Tour. He ranks 51st in Putts per GIR, Scott ranks 152nd.
Scott was T50 last week in the no cut WGC CA Championship. He did not shoot one round in the 60's.
Matt Every -150 vs. Rory Sabbatini
Every has been good to us. The University of Florida star was T26 at the Honda Classic and T8 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He ranks 31st in GIR, stripes his irons well on the Bermuda. Sabbatini missed the cut again last week in Puerto Rico and in the Phoenix Open. He ranks 94th in GIR and will be chipping much more than Every and fighting the new grooves and that will be the difference in this matchup I believe.
