Travelers Championship

Travelers Championship Fredrik Jacobson -110 vs Martin Laird Freddy Jac is playing some of his best golf right now. For him to do so well in the U.S. Open a venue that really doesn't suit his game at all, he is striking the ball well and his putting is always top notch. He's made five straight cuts and shot four rounds in the 60's L2 events. Laird is hot and cold and now his game seems to be faltering as he has missed B2B cuts including the U.S. Open last week. TPC At River Highlands is a par 70 and quite short by Tour standards. The greens are small so I'd have to say scrambling and putting are key factors this week and Freddy Jac is better at both of those categories IMO.
Close to 3 hours later and it is -105 on 5dimes.
We played for the tourney 7013) H Slocum -120 (good up to 135) vs Scotty Verplunk. 1.25% play. Good Luck
Jacobson now +103 at 5 Dimes. I think Alf's analysis is solid here. Sharp money was on Jacobson last week and he won one of the matchups I bet. He was talked about even for the U.S. Open in my reviews before the tournament. He's talked about here a little bit. He's ranked fairly highly in this week's fantasy review of the tournament. He's listed at 10th. And Laird is not on the list. I forget if Laird won this year but he was playing well earlier and perhaps is a more well known name. Jacobson has never won on the tour and there seems to be some momentum of people around the PGA tour who analyze that he's getting closer. I already bet this matchup and I bet it again at +103. They only take 250 each time at 5 Dimes so I don't have a lot on it but I'm backing it. I might not have started it or thought of it myself but it looks reasonable. I don't know if I would lay -120 on it but Jacobson is clearly the golfer in form. Most importantly, I don't have a clue why sharp money would be on Laird per se but obviously somebody was betting him. I also bet the Dude's play on Slocum.

I just found it very unusual that the number moved against Alf's selection. Usually when I get the pick 3 hours late, it is far worse not better. Maybe there is an injury issue we aren't aware of.
Totally agree. And I bet it at 5 Dimes too and they'll go after my bet as well a little bit more. So somebody disagrees or bets the other way on them. I took my shot at +103.
MARK STEVENS: Okay. We'd like to welcome Scott Verplank into the media center here at The Travelers Championship. Scott, currently No. 82 in the FedExCup standing, and as has been the case here, seems like a lot of injuries you're battling through, Scott. Talk a little bit about your health. SCOTT VERPLANK: Yeah. It's kind of a broken record really. I'm fine. I've been battling this left wrist problem for about a year. But I'm just kind of haven't been able to play very much this year, but that's fine. I'm kind of getting up there in age, so I don't mind being home quite as much. But I'm really looking forward to coming back here. I love this golf course. I've done very well around here and had a lot of good rounds, so I'm excited to be here this week. MARK STEVENS: All right. We'll go into questions. Q. Scott, your wrist specifically, have they diagnosed what it is? Is it tendonitis? SCOTT VERPLANK: No. It's more kind of arthritic. Yeah, just kind of a dull arthritic pain. You know, it's just one of those deals getting old, I guess. You know, I take plenty of painkillers. You know, my biggest problem with it is I haven't been able to be consistent. I've been able to play some weeks and feel okay and I've played some other weeks and just been terrible, had to withdraw a couple times. Played really good for the one week in Houston, and I felt really good. The problem there was I just kind of ran out of gas because I hadn't been able to play, and I just kind of felt like I lost a little strength in my left arm. But if I could -- I mean I'm doing a lot of things good, so it's just kind of pacing myself. But you know, it's not anything different than anybody else that's playing out here that's been out here a long time. Everybody has something they're dealing with, so I just put my head down and go. Recall 2W ago we had Westwood over Toms and the line went against us. Dude good work on Verplank, but I know 12 yrs ago he had the same wrist problem and you always see tape on that wrist.

Solid shot from 160 yds.
