Ufc 117

Ufc 117 Good card tonite, I have pulled the trigger on just one fight. The main fight is the absolute best contrast of styles that you could matchup. Sonnen is an Olympic calibre wrestler and his game plan has to be exactly that, otherwise Silva who I believe is still the best pure UFC fighter will tear him apart in stand up. Lean Silva but will not lay it. Rafael Dos Anjos -120 vs Clay Guida Guida will not quit we know that. But, his skills are very limited IMO, he does not have the hands to fire and win. Conversely, Dos Anjos can win on the ground and KO, also I see Dos Anjos improving up the ladder while Guida who has fought more and vs better competition is on his way down. Money has and is coming in on Dos Anjos today, yet Guida is by far the more popular fighter, should be sharp money IMO.

Guida is exciting but takes too many unnecessary chances and will get caught here. Shannon Gugerty, a far inferior fighter to dos Anjos, caught Guida in a tight submission in the 1st round in Guida's last fight.
Well, Shooter, Tru, I'm getting very frustrated with our UFC bets that looked like a dead nuts winner DURING THE FIGHT and goes the other way because its seems the American fighters all have more heart. Anderson Silva got extremely lucky and we'll play Sonnen in the rematch, unfortunately we won't get the same price.
How sick would you be if you were on Sonnen. Amazing that foremost in his thinking at that point wasn't to defend any last-ditch submission attempt. Let him up if nothing else.

I wonder if the rib injury that Anderson claimed to have effected him. Styles make fights and in retrospect, Sonnen is all wrong for Anderson. As always has been Sonnen's problem is he almost no offensive skills on the ground and seemingly doesn't want to learn anything new. I detest his style of fighting. It isn't good for the UFC and is quite unpleasant to watch. As for some of the other bets, it just goes to show that we cannot rule out experience as a big factor. UFC has been tough to win at consistently. Everyone was telling me to pound Fitch, I regret I didn't.

I thought alves was favored over a guy who handily beat him four years ago and couldn't make weight and yet he was still favored. I thought the oddsmakers were telling me that Alves was the play when I should have went with my own two eyes that tell me Fitch is a better fighter. Alves was lifeless.

(normally this is a serious negative) The other fighter agrees to still take the fight. Come fight time, he looked like he should have been about two weight classes higher. He won the fight fairly easily because the other guy didn't have the power to KO him. Was that because of the weight? I think it certainly played a major part in his victory.
The situation you described actually played out ironically enough in a past Alves fight against Matt Hughes. Granted Hughes is older than Fitch, but Alves looked massive compared to Hughes in that fight.
