Ufc 118 MMA record overall 5W 1L +7.125 units UFC record 4W 1L +5.125 units WEC record 1W 0L +2.000 units UFC 118 picks with Pinnacle odds. Not real familiar with a few of the undercard fighters. It’s a tough card to bet because of the huge chalk on some fights, but here are my selections. BJ Penn -283 2 units Big chalk to put up for a rematch picking the loser of the first fight, or am I really picking the loser of the first fight. Yes according to the judges but not according to my judging (I know my judging doesn’t matter). BJ is bigger, stronger, a better striker, better BJJ, and I could go on. His only weakness and this has always been an Achilles heel for him and that’s his stamina, or should I say lack there of. I don’t think Edgar is going to be able to patty cake and move as freely this go round. I listened to BJ’s interview with Bruce Buffer and he just sounds like he’s in a better state of mind and ready for this challenge. I believe BJ squares up this match up with a win Saturday night. Nate Diaz -195 1 unit Despite always liking Davis’ as a boxer turned MMA guy, his age might be finally catching up with him. I see Diaz controlling the distance with his reach advantage and getting himself a decision win if he doesn’t catch Davis in a submission first. I think there should be a bet offered on who cuts first in this fight. I'd be shocked if one if not both are in need of a stitch or two after this one. :) No wagers but just opinions. No chance for Toney against Randy. Randy is to smart and has great game plans. He’ll be in 10 times better shape and will take Toney down at will and then it’s all over. The chances of Toney putting Randy to sleep on the way in would call for better than +476. If Lauzon -313 doesn’t win against Ruediger, a late fill in for the injured Etim, I doubt that we see him back in the UFC. I personally don’t think he loses and just can’t pull the trigger at the –313. Coin flip in my opinion on the Florian versus Maynard fight. Interestingly, the only loss coming into tonight for the current champ Edgar was against Maynard. Good luck all with your wagers.
Good write up Hicksey. Someone please explain why Florian is -145 over Maynard who is a beast and underrated IMO.....?
Can get Maynard at +130 and have been thinking about it...
I like Florian here. Gray is a big guy at 155 and he's a good wrestler, but his striking is terrible. Florian is more well-rounded. Florian isn't a wrestler and the only time he got really outwrestled was 4 years ago against Sherk. He's a lot better now. Neither Guida nor Stevenson could do anything with their wrestling against Florian.

And another tidbit is this fight in boston which means very tough for Maynard to win any close decision if fight goes distance. Maynard is not going to our strike Florian nor beat him at the submission game, but I still think he has a chnace to out wrestle Florian and beat him up on the ground or at least control him. He'll have to be careful or those elbows Florian throws from his back. Still a toss up to me and therefore a no bet for me. Just checked Pinnacle and Maynard is +138 while Florian is -153. Thanks Alf M.
