UFC 128 Shogun vs. Jones

UFC 128 Shogun vs. Jones Jon Jones -185 vs Shogun Rua Jones is perhaps the best fighter in the UFC. Size and power is a factor, but skill out-weighs them all and Jones has a unique set of skills that can and will defeat any 205 pound light-heavyweight. He is sharp and ready having just fought in February. He has a huge reach advantage of 84" vs. 74." He's younger, (23) hungrier fighter and it's his time. Rua has been waiting patiently to defend his title, nursing a knee injury for 10 months. He was supposed to fight Rashad Evans, which would have been a much easier fight and when he stepped into the octagon after Jones dismantled Ryan Bader last month, the look on Rua's face told us plenty. He was not happy and obviously disgusted that he must now battle the best fighter in the division. Rua lost and then retained the belt from Lyoto Machida, who is vastly overrated IMO. Before that beat up on old, fading fighters Chuck Liddell and Mark Coleman for easy pay days. Prior to that in the UFC he LOST to Forest Griffin. Jones would destroy Griffin inside of one round. Rua was on top of his game when he fought in the Pride series fights, not now and not after a 10 month layoff. Jones can win multiple ways, this is a no brainer. Eddie Wineland +340 vs Urijah Faber Faber, (31 yrs old) has had one fight since losing to Jose Aldo and it was a tune-up submission vs. Takeya Mizugaki. He is a strong wrestler and average puncher from the WEC and of course you have seen him in many commercials. Wineland (26) is the better puncher/boxer/striker, his game plan is to stay on his feet and if that happens he has a good shot at winning this fight. He's won his last four fights and is in the prime of his career. There is no way he should be +300 or more in this fight, Faber was exposed vs Aldo and once he gets hit covers up and Wineland can swing freely.
I mentioned that I bet Jones but I'm not real happy with the selection. I bet Benavidez and J. Miller in a parlay. 1.3 to win 1. I like the price on Wineland and I'm no fan of Faber, I just think that Wineland is outclassed in this fight. Wineland's best win was against the "frito bandito" Banuelos. (We had Torres large in February in an easy win against Banuelos.) Likely more later. GL
Not so fast my friend. Yes, I watched the UFC Countdown show too, but you're incorrect on this one Senor'. The "Frito Bandito Banuelos"(LMAO)fight was FIVE years ago and not nearly his toughest opponent. Since then Eddie Wineland has had 8 fights. His last four fights other than his latest win vs. Stone, he was the underdog to Tapia, Roop and +210 vs Capuzano. Agree Faber will be a tough nut to crack here, but just like the George Sotiropoulos fight, if Faber cannot get the takedowns, Wineland can win.
Campuzano has lost 4 of his last 6. Roop is 3-4-1 last 8. Tapia has lost his last 4 fights. At least "Frito Bandito" is 7-4 since fighting Wineland. I think that Wineland's power is over stated but I took your advice in a way... I didn't add "butt chin" Faber to any parlays. I hope you are right, like I said, I'm not a fan of Faber's. GL

You have to look at when they fought. Campuzano was 7-1 going into the Wineland fight and the favorite. Tapia was 10-0 and then a quality loss to our buddy Torres and he was the favorite. Roop, was on his way down fighting Wineland, but still won 5 of 7 at that point. Wineland has been the underdog most of his career and tonight a huge underdog with a value price that is seriously out of wack.
I see your position but would argue that, just like boxing, as fighters continue to win they usually start facing tougher opponents. I put little faith in wins against tomato cans. In boxing, as likely there are in MMA, 100's of guys that are 7-0 or 10-0 or better. The truth is that they usually haven't beating anyone of note. When they step up they lose. Roop was getting old and already fading, but it was a decent win none the less. Good Luck, I'll be rooting for him.
added Parlay... Jim Miller -230 with Luiz Cane -190 Miller a New Jersey product, and the home octagon edge has proven to be a significant handicapping factor as we saw in Montreal, Sydney etc...Miller will dominate the 38 year old Iranian who hasn't fought anyone worth mentioning. Cane is an up and coming Brazilian MMA fighter who the UFC has had a hard time finding a fight/matchup for this talented striker. His opponent Marshall hasn't fought in a year.
Hey tru and Alf, GL with your bets tonight. Hope we get to see some awesome fights. Just a single bet for me..... 3 fight parlay with +1.296 payoff. Jim Miller -245 Nate Marquardt -325 Joseph Benavidez -405
when crokop goes down he sure goes down in a heap......
Jim "porn stache" Miller for the win.
