Valero Texas Open Guys, I'm playing an afternoon golf tournament, so we are posting now.
The Valero Texas Open is held at a new course this year. The TPC San Antonio Oaks Course has the potential to be a monster, with over 7,500 yards of tree lined fairways, only 3 water hazards and large undualting greens.
The threat of rain and thunder storms Thursday through Saturday could make this track play even longer.
Par 5's 602 604 567 591 Par 3's 213 207 241 183......very difficult on paper!
Total Driving and Ball Striking will be key components to winning this week.
John Rollins -120 vs Mark Wilson
Rolly is one of my favorite tee to green players on Tour. He is one fine driver of the golf ball. He was T13 last week at the Players and T21 in New Orleans. Wilson has missed the cut in 4 of his 5 starts and has only one round in the 60's during that stretch. Wilson is one of the shorter hitters on Tour.
Chris Stroud -120 vs. Micheal Sim........I would play this at -[140 or less...well I wrote this matchup up last night, and our good LVASports buddy Members, has already posted a Sim update. So, the early numbers are long gone.
Who is Chris Stroud? Born in Nederland TX, this journeyman held onto his PGA Tour card after last season for the first time and is playing his best golf right now. He was T10 at TPC Sawgrass, T29 at Quail Hollow another solid golf course and T21 at the Zurich Classic.
But, this wager is a play against Sim who is making his first start on Tour in more than 9 weeks. He is coming back from a damaged tendon in his right shoulder. "The plan is to play next week in Texas, but it’s kind of day-to-day," Sim's agent Bud Martin said. "We’ll make that decision here in the next couple of days.".......Day to day doesn't sound good to me, sounds like he needs plenty of tune up work before coming back to the Tour.
