WGC Accenture Matchplay Finals

WGC Accenture Matchplay Finals Luke Donald +100 vs Martin Kaymer This tournament reminds me of when David Toms drilled the field at LaCosta in 2005. If he had a six iron or less it was at the flag. Now the weather is supposed to be cold, possible snow in the mountains, but they'll get this off and running for the NBC coverage. Luke Donald has the matchplay makeup to beat just about anyone ...if...his game is on and as we have seen, no worries. Kaymer will take the match in stride and take his new No.#1 ranking to the Masters. .......no action on the 3rd place consolation match.
Nice weekend Alf!! Thanks!
Solid finish. Glad you didn't retire.
Cannot believe the price on Luke Donald, clearly the better matchplay player...and although I didn't put it in my write-up, and still wagered only one unit, I would have laid up to and including -160, good value and Donald was the dog!...should have opened at -150 IMO.
I didn't put it in my write-up, and still wagered only one unit, I would have laid up to and including -160, good value and Donald was the dog!...should have opened at -150 IMO.
If the true value on the matchup was higher than -160 why do you only bet a unit?
good point....when you have an edge of 50 cents and only bet one unit how much of an advantage do you need to unload on a match? Don't see how you could see that much of an advantage on 18 hole match with #1 and #3 golfers in the world. I saw it as 50-50 all the way and wouldn't have laid 10 cents on either player.
Yes, very bad linesmaking in the final round. The worst mistake in Round 2 was only a play 10 cents off a line of -185.
Geoff Ogilvy -185 vs Thomas Bjorn ................. I believe this is an easy match, they never are in matchplay, but this is my strongest play so far and I'd lay up to and including -195.
That is the point, because it was only one round, the final round, not 72 holes, the matchup and my handicap dictates the strength of the play. I don't play many matchups more than a unit, value is the most overrated concept in sports handicapping IMO....and just for the final, because we were anticipating the line for about an hour, I made a line and thought it would come much higher........keep it simple.
value is the most overrated concept in sports handicapping IMO Amen Brother.
I have always hated that term. Lazy man's way of explaining a position.
