WGC Accenture Matchplay Round 2 Did I mention there would be some upsets? Cripes.
Mike Weir made 9 birdies, NINE in 12 holes. Quiros who I thought would win that match, did not give away the match. Ah, matchplay....
So, back to the drawing board. From the Golf Channel coverage, and as painful as it was to watch, (all of it) the greens are the key. Approach shots and putting are ranking much higher than Total Driving. McGowan, Jaidee, Poulter, T Clark, Wilson, Weir, Yang and Westwood all putted much better than their opponents.
Ian Poulter -140 vs Adam Scott
Poulty made 6 birdies, 2 bogies and one double. 6-2-1...Scott was 6-3-1 and his opponent Cabrera, who is either hit or miss was much easier to defeat than Poulter's match against Justin Leonard who is a matchplay machine. (But, then again so is Poulty) We like Poulty here the far superior putter and grinder in the matchplay format. From my observations Poulty was "on" we just did not want to go against Leonard in Rd 1.
