Report on Hero HTC Sprint's version of the iphone is the Hero HTC, which is called a "droid", which I suppose means it is a copy, more or less of the iphone.
I got one last week, and why some sportsbooks have a mobile website built for mobile phones, some do not. There is a big difference with be able to use the sites with the mobile app vs the sites that don't.
Mobile app sites work pretty good, although using such a small apparatus as a mobile cell phone takes a while to get adjusted to, it is a real skill that takes time to acquire to use it quickly, and hit the buttons correctly.
One of the problems I have had initially was hitting the right button. Whether you use the mouse (Hero has one) or the touchscreen, it is sometimes difficult to hit the right button, and I have repeatedly hit back, or baseball lines when I meant to hit basketball lines on some of the sites. As a result I have to reload pages, and sometmes even go back to logging into the site to go back to the right page. This can be time consuming and frustrating, but through practice I'm starting to get much better and eliminate mistakes.
The speed is surprisingly fast though, and I am happy with that.
As far as typing, the touchscreen is very good, much better than I thought. After a few days you will rarely hit the wrong button when you are texting or putting in a bet, but you better check your bet size before you confirm.
It is faster to call in many times, but if you want to check lines, and see what's happening on the site, you can't beat these droids. A must have for the serious bettor.
There is a version of this phone that sprint makes that has a pop out mini-keyboard. I haven't tried it, but I have 30 days to exchange this model if I need to. I'm going to go back to Best Buy and try it out.
Sometimes the pages won't load correctly when you are trying to place a bet, and that can be frustrating.
My overall review is this:
Hero HTC
Speed: Very good
Typing: Very good, but nothing like a real keyboard, about 1/3 the speed.
Website Mobility: Fair at best, but being able to check the complete lines of an online sportsbook while on the go versus seeing nothing at all doesn't need to elaborated on.
Overall 1-10 Rating for the serious gambling: 8.5
