William Hill--Fez Tweet

William Hill--Fez Tweet Have to admit I am curious to find out more about the William Hill book in Nevada with Nick B. I received the tweet from Fez regarding William Hill as a good edition to Nevada but I must admit my own take on this transaction is/was pretty significantly negative. I have to disagree with Fez. I'm not really excited. Here were my reasons: (1) For me who is not an American I viewed William Hill as an account I can play anyway over the internet. I am beginning to infer that Nick may be able to set his own lines independent of William Hill online and if that is the case fair enough I can't just replicate this place anyway by having an online account. (Can anyone confirm that there will be separate lines between the online book and Nevada properties?) (2) Now even if it has its own lines why is having Nick B running WH any better than having Nick B running Cal Neva which is what he already did for the past few years? I would think his running Cal Neva would have given him much more freedom as it was. Quite honestly, this corporate group running WH in Nevada where they had the Lucky's guy doing something, Nick running the numbers I guess ----to me it just sounded like the usual corporate mess where the people involved are used to running their own shops but now they have to pretend to get along with each other. I've been around in other business areas and that just doesn't work. (3) And out of the deal a bettor loses Lucky's and Leroy's. Admittedly not key books for my own betting over the past few years but at least some variety there. Much more important in basketball where I can pick up Lucky's openers and also the odd off number on game day on west coast games or the extreme back side of a move already made where perhaps I already have the good bet for a max bet.
William Hill took over all 3 books - Cal Neva, Luckys & Leroys - of the 3, Leroys was the only one that had mobile betting in Nevada. The lines were always the same from Leroys - both mobile & at their various locations. I can't imagine Nick B posting different lines for the mobile vs bricks/mortar locations (this is for Nevada only). I have no idea what he will do/can do on the internet account (didn't know William Hill had one). Cal/Neva was not available in Las Vegas (to my knowledge) at any bricks/mortars locations.
Thanks, Larry. My meaning for WH was whether their online in Europe/Canada would be different than the Nevada lines. I suppose I'm inferring they might be and perhaps I'll do a rundown soon to see if they are on baseball. I recall Vegas had a CN in the Tuscany Hotel and also had an outlet perhaps at Binions downtown. It has been over 1 year since I really worked a week or so in Vegas and probably 2 years so my experience could be dated.
I looked this morning and I'm certain that they are dealing different lines in Nevada as opposed to online customers in the world. This is a good thing in that Nick has that freedom to run a book perhaps like he did CN. I'd be surprised if it is as good a book for me as a bettor as CN was but at least this is good news. IMO CN was the best book for a variety of reasons as a bettor in Reno and from what I see in Vegas I'm certainly hearing good things about some books like Cantor but at least CN had to be up there as one of the most useful 5 books. (Personally, I ranked it ahead of Harrahs MGM Luckys Leroys all books in LV as well as Reno. I don't know much about SP). If WH puts out parlay cards like CN that is the next test for me. That would be great news if they did. If they don't or manage their card operations like Lucky's (okay) or Leroy's (bad) that will be a negative. I'll agree with Fez comments that Nick is the guy bettors are looking for. As a pro I would want him running the books but that is not because he is a weak bookmaker. He takes risks like a bookmaker should so he will get hit taking that risk but he will take those risks because he's a good bookmaker. If they run this place like Leroys or Luckys It couldn't be anything but a negative for most bettors. However, I'd need to know more why as a pro this transaction is really any good for me as a bettor in Nevada compared to the previous status quo. I'll just add that Leroys and Luckys weren't adding much for me personally regarding straight betting games but CN still was important to me there. I'm very glad Nick is running the book. Could WH be better? Maybe there is something that would make this even better than CN. More in game betting options perhaps? I know WH online does quite a bit of that. How about a negative? Half time betting comes to mind. I still felt that Luckys or Leroys were solid places to be standing around on football or basketball halftimes for pros. Losing them IMO for halftimes is a hit.

I was in CalNeva Reno book on Aug 02 and the lady at the counter confirmed they were purchased by Wm Hill as mentioned in this thread ... they were a little "mixed-up" about it and details for changes or new options were not available yet. Also visited Silver Legacy, El Dorado, Harrahs and Circus Circus shopping NFL Season Win totals ... most were in line with Fezz's thread on the topic.
You can get excited about getting William Hill but as far as the overall swap for Neva/Leroys/Luckys it will be a huge loser for LV bettors, My guess is it will be no better than Cal Neva and maybe not as good. Arrow down again this year for LV sports betting.
