Williams vs Cintron

Williams vs Cintron Paul Williams is fighting Kermit Cintron on May 8th. This is listed as a 5 star fight and I agree. I won't be making a pick in this fight for a few different reasons. I have no listing for this fight as yet but you may have one. I've seen -450 to -700 for Williams. Cintron isn't the same fighter as he was a few years ago. He's changed camps and has reinvented himself. He was with Stewart and he's now with Ronnie Shields. Cintron went from a KO machine to a boxer seemingly over night. While I think that Williams will most likely win this fight, The odds are way out of line. I see this fight as pretty close. I'd consider the under at 11.5 but Cintron and Williams have both gone the distance numerous times. Cintron has better power and a higher KO percentage. I can actually see Cintron winning by KO but since he's changed his style he hasn't been looking for that type of punch. He may need it in this fight because without a doubt Williams will be throwing 100 plus punches a round. He may very well overwhelm Cintron. I really don't have a good read on this fight so I'll pass on giving a betting predictions. This fight is on HBO and if you like boxing you should check it out. Both of these fighters are elite level fighters and this could be a great fight. Paul Williams is a freak of nature (6'2" and only 157 pounds) and is very entertaining to watch. He seemed to me to gas a bit at the end of his fight against Martinez and he may be reaching the point where he can't make these low weights anymore.

Both of these guys have good power but both also have good chins. Cintron's only two losses are to "loaded gloves" Margarito. His last three fights have all gone the distance, two of them against guys that can crack the leather. Williams only loss was a decision. At -135 the over is a good bet. I'd have thought the line would be atleast 9.5 The bet 1.35 units to win 1 on the OVER 8.5 rounds Good luck

Greek just listed 9.5 +140. That line is tempting but I like the 8.5 better.
any thoughts on friday night fights on espn 2. much appreciated.
any thoughts on friday night fights on espn 2. much appreciated.
The only two fights on the card I've seen listed are Mitchell vs. White and Despaigne vs. Hall. No official recommendations on these fights. Mitchell (-325 on Bodog) should win. White is a bit younger and I don't really know much about either fighter. Mitchell still is sporting his 0 and at 27 I can't help but think that his management wouldn't get him into a fight that he can't win. White hasn't beaten anyone of note and got Ko'd in the first against his only good competition. So yeah Mitchell should win. Despaigne, in only his 5 fight (4 KO's) hails from Cuba and was a star of international amateur boxing. He used to fight at MiddleWeight and is now fighting at Light HW. I certain he'll win this fight but -1400 is to much. I was looking for and OVER/UNDER on this fight but I never found it. I'd think it would be 5.5 and I'd still bet the under. In the past I heard that he got fat after getting to America and wasn't going to turn into a great fighter as he was already approaching 30 years old. I'll be interested in seeing him fight. Again no official recommendations on these fights but I will be watching with some interest.
Teddy Atlas called Williams vs Cintron as Williams by Unanimous Decision.

After only a few years of boxing it is obvious that he's a great athlete and has good skills. Its to bad that I didn't have access to the weight ins for this fight. White was really out of shape and it would have been a really easy fight to pick. Despainge won every round in this fight but still managed to not impress me. He seems to lack elite speed and elite power. Generally speaking, you need one of those two to be an elite fighter. Ever though he dominated the fight he should have been able to end this fight in the 8th or 9th round as Hall was completely gassed. He took the easy road, stayed on the outside and cruised to the UD. He's got some major holes in his game and Atlas, as crazy as he can be, was very accurate about it. Despainge drops his hands when he throws punches. Elite fighter will time his punches and pound him unless he corrects that flaw. He also needs to set his feet when he punches and after 300 or so amateur fights I'd think he would be more fluid. As weak at the LHW division is, I wouldn't be surprised that he fights for a title (technically there are 5 major belts) in a year or so.
How crazy was that. Williams wins by decision but it goes Under the 9 1/2 total. No breaks.
How crazy was that. Williams wins by decision but it goes Under the 9 1/2 total. No breaks.
Split decision into a Technical decision. Bizarre. Some ahole judge had Williams winning all four rounds. Moron. Through three rounds I had Williams winning by one round. Fourth round? How the hell can you score it other then a draw. Watching the replay Williams tripped him and that is why he went out of the ring. Can't believe California has yet another stupid bylaw. Most states have to go 4 rounds completed to go to the score cards. Can't explain why California would be three rounds. -1.35 Units. Updated record. Including 4 parlays (2-2) (+.70) and 2 straddle bets (0-2) (-2) 18-5 69.15 units wagered (+18.01 Units) GL
