World Cup 2010 Props I will post many props in the next few days leading up to the World Cup start that are worthy of a wager and where I believe we have an edge. [B]Will France advance to the Quarter Finals? No. -135[/B] France is a team that went to the 2006 World Cup Finals and lost to Italy in a PSO (penalty shootout). That star generation of a team is all but gone. They squeaked through Qualifying and were forced to play Ireland 2x and the infamous Thierry Henry handball has now become a curse. France will struggle to get out of their Group let alone win a second round game vs Argentina or Group B runner up to make it to the Quarters. They have the 3rd ranked offense of four teams in Group A and the 2nd best defense. [B]Team Portugal over 4.5 goals -170[/B] Just the name of Ronaldo should send shivers against any defense Portugal faces. The key to this wager is the line. I made a number on each team's total goals and I have Portugal at 6.5. Another key factor is they do not play Group G powerhouse Brazil until the third and last Group game. If they go on to win one and draw one one game before Brazil, goal differential is the first group tie breaker and then it's total goals. I see them scoring plenty vs. North Korea and vs. Ivory Coast should produce a high scoring contest. Also, if Portugal moves on into the Second Round (they are the 2nd favorite at +350) this is a major bonus and should get well past 4.5 goals total.

Alf- first I want to tell you that I love the stuff you put up. I have been a member here for about a month or 2 and see that you put up nothing but quality info. In the internet world, where is the best place to find the world cup props?

These and most all of the World Cup props I played are at Pinnacle. I've seen them also at Stations here in Las Vegas.

Several up at CRIS, including Portugal 4.5 goals O/-150. Alf, CRIS has France to be eliminated in the round of 16 +225. Does that work as a substitute for the no-France bet?

Not really, that is saying they'll advance through the Group Stage and get knocked out [I]exactly[/I] in the Second Round/Round of 16. Nice price, but I'll pass on that one. I see Mexico and Uruguay making it very difficult for the overrated Les Bleus to play a 4th game.

I know it's not the same bet. But France is favored to advance through the group (-400) and you have them -130 to not advance from there. So you find yourself at +225 in the likely same position as the -130. I know this sort of reasoning is rarely as cut-and-dried as it seems, and you give up the win if they don't make it out of the group, but this one intrigued me.

This is the logic I used, although I only got them at +200.

I put it up more for discussion than anything else. The fly in the ointment on "ideas" like this is what you give up in the missing component -- in this case, the chance of not making it out of group play.
