World Junior Hockey Bet for New Year's Eve First off nobody has this right now except Pinnacle that I see so I bet a little on it but it might be worth more. Canada is playing the U.S. tomorrow night and I bet the U.S. +2.5-130. This just seems like a crazy line. I think it totally off but I didn't make it any more than a regular bet. I really believe the perception is that Canada is far better than the U.S. The problem is I don't know the reality which is why I don't make it a bigger play for myself but I think I have evidence that these teams are pretty close The U.S. is eliminated and relegated now to the pool that plays to avoid being bumped to Group B for championship Junior hockey. The Americans are of course demoralized by this (the players I mean...the public doesn't even know this is occurring). The fact they're eliminated and Canada has won its first 3 games by a 100 goals (beating all of the garbage teams) The Americans lost to Finland and now lost to the Czechs but they had 54 shots and were tied 2-2 in the 3rd and had a penalty shot that if they scored they may have survived this game but ended up losing. Both these squads are tough and Canada did beat the Czechs 5-0 but the U.S. beat the Czechs just not on the scoresheet and made too many errors. Canada is home and cool and going to the semi finals. I don't think they need this game. The Americans are in for pride. But they're obviously fighting a HUGE emotional letdown that does back me off the play on them a little. Of course, why should Canada get up for this game? They have a huge tilt scheduled for New Year's Eve expected to be a good game probably a preview of when they might play later in the tournament and instead it means nothing. What is a guy in Edmonton going to do now for New Year's Eve? Can Canada be good hosts and just let these Americans win and salvage something? The Americans I really think are almost as good as the Canadians and actually there are many hockey analysts who think they're better. They have 6 guys drafted in the 1st round of the NHL draft and The Hockey News in their projections had the U.S. finishing ahead of Canada at this tournament. Canada does have one critical injury Devante Smith-Pelly is out who actually has NHL experience but that is a smaller factor in power ratings as I just presume Canada is loaded but it can't hurt if one is betting U.S. The total is close to 7 so a goal here isn't worth as much as an NHL game but I can't think a moneyline on this is telling me that the Canadians are -250 or -300 to win this game and I just don't think they are---anywhere near it. Canada always seems to lose unless they have a great team at these tournaments at least one game and sometimes several more. Canada IMO also a great country to bag a game that doesn't mean anything. We do it all the time. (The 7th place loss to what is it Kazakastan...apologies for spelling one year) I don't where you can bet it---or bet against it if you think Canada kills them but maybe 5 Dimes will have it. Bet Cris didn't even have anything so far.
