Fuck, no, my entire fucking post, like yours, isn't "necessary," but I choose to fucking make it, and my use of the word "motherfucker" was because that is exactly, verbatim, what i thought when the casinos raised the craps table limits.

This isn't a violation of rules though.  It's laughable when Kevin tries to get all noble with me for breaking rules.

I apologize, Jerry. You weren't breaking the rules per se. You were being a jerk, repeatedly harrassing Patricia. I really don't know what keeps compelling you to do that, but by all means, go ahead and keep it up.

I'd like to point out that my using "profane" language (like we're all schoolmarms) is something much different than singling out a poster and relentlessly attacking her.

Jerry - apparently from this time forward any posts you or anyone else may want to make have to be run thru Lewis for his approval.

Well, it looks like Jerry was successful in driving Patricia away, and David's faux outrage has ruined another thread. Congratulations, guys.

I'm about 150 people short of you now I guess.  LOL

No, IQ points.

So why would someone who has said goodbye to craps forever even post on this topic.  This kind of degrading of every Las Vegas experience gets so tiring.  If I want to play craps for free I can just go down to my basement and play.  I saw a good game with racks of chips and people making some money on a 10 dollar table on a friday.  If someone stops by this game and doesn't want to play because the table was cold or the limits were more , then I would understand

Oh, Vegas used to be chock full of fun experiences. I'm not the one who "degraded" those experiences. The casinos did that. I have merely described the degradations.

If you wanted to bet $10 on the pass line, you could have done that 20 years ago and had the same amount of funsies you have now, when you're forced to bet at least that much. But the players who might want to bet $5, or $2, are priced out. And what's the downside to the casinos from allowing lower limits? Those players will last longer. But they'll have more fun, and won't the goddamn casinos get all the money eventually, no matter what? It isn't, as you put it, the difference between paying those higher limits and playing for fun in the basement. It's the difference between the casinos shearing the sheep and slaughtering them.

But yeah, I get all sorts of flak when I complain that Vegas is a pale shadow of the fantastic fun place it used to be, and how you could enjoy yourself for very little money if you knew how.

Oh, and those folks you saw at the $10 game weren't making any money. They were borrowing it.

I learned to play craps 40 years ago at Binion's $1 with 10X

That was fun!
My go to now is Downtown Grand and Ellis Island $5 with 10X

i still have fun with the game, my bankroll is probably 50 times what I had back then

i know this is negative expecting but you can still win short term

Luck be a lady!

Just so you know, Downtown Grand is now 3/4/5x odds on craps. $5 games are still available. There is now only one $1 Blackjack game, and the $5 Blackjack is now 6to5. If you want a 3to2 BJ payoff, you have to bet $10 per hand.

Casinos have ever increasing labor costs which have made $5 minimum tables unprofitable. Also, the general public is smarter than 40 years ago when it comes to Blackjack and other game strategies. Single & double deck Blackjack is now 6 & 8 deck Blackjack. Games that used to stand on soft 17 now hit on soft 17. 3 to 2 payouts became 6 to 5 payouts. While not mandatory (yet), I rarely see players who don't bet at least $5 on side bets, even when the minimum (for now) is $1.

Higher limits and higher house edges is just the evolution of modern casinos.
