So why would someone who has said goodbye to craps forever even post on this topic. This kind of degrading of every Las Vegas experience gets so tiring. If I want to play craps for free I can just go down to my basement and play. I saw a good game with racks of chips and people making some money on a 10 dollar table on a friday. If someone stops by this game and doesn't want to play because the table was cold or the limits were more , then I would understand
Oh, Vegas used to be chock full of fun experiences. I'm not the one who "degraded" those experiences. The casinos did that. I have merely described the degradations.
If you wanted to bet $10 on the pass line, you could have done that 20 years ago and had the same amount of funsies you have now, when you're forced to bet at least that much. But the players who might want to bet $5, or $2, are priced out. And what's the downside to the casinos from allowing lower limits? Those players will last longer. But they'll have more fun, and won't the goddamn casinos get all the money eventually, no matter what? It isn't, as you put it, the difference between paying those higher limits and playing for fun in the basement. It's the difference between the casinos shearing the sheep and slaughtering them.
But yeah, I get all sorts of flak when I complain that Vegas is a pale shadow of the fantastic fun place it used to be, and how you could enjoy yourself for very little money if you knew how.
Oh, and those folks you saw at the $10 game weren't making any money. They were borrowing it.
