advice

after saving, planning, not going to vegas for 15 months, and my successful
side business as a gigilo(sp) i have a bankroll in the hundreds.

i really don't want to carry this much cash through airports, etc.

can I bring a cashiers check and deposit it at the cage? i'm at harrahs, orleans,
and maybe wynn after a lot of drama.

i bank at chase and the closest atm/bank is on fremont.

what to do?

Do Travelers Checks still exist? I used to use them years and years ago when I was afraid of bringing too much cash. They used to be free at AAA.

Was a good way to budget money too. Atm's make it SO easy to get out of control.
I've never understood the dislike of using ATM's and paying the small charge. I always take 2-3K with me and have the ATM as a backup. I only withdraw in increments of $1,000, so the charge is relatively small.
The $5 or so I pay for the withdrawal is exactly one spin of the VP...just can't get excited about it.
the ATM is probably the route i'll go.

capt, I'm there 3-26 thru 3-31....harrahs and orleans

Cashing travelers cheques is a possibility, but hotels won't unless you're an elite with marriott, banks won't unless you're a depositor with that much in deposits ( to be held) and casinos may if you like waiting. It used to be the way to go, but ATM is now. Good luck!
I take $500 American Express Travelers checks which I get at AAA for no fee. Have never had a
problem cashing them at any Casino on or off the strip. The only "wait" is that the cashier has to call
into American Express to get a validation code and they write down your driver's license info - probably
no different or longer than cashing a regular check.

My local AAA office told me a couple years that AAA wasn't selling travelers cheques anymore, did you get some recently?

I checked a couple AAA websites, they don't list travelers cheques as one of the financial services they offer (they do list foreign currency and the Visa Travel Money card).
cashier check....not traveler

a cashier made out to me,,wayne,,at my bank.

will the casino take this?

i will call harrahs
I nice fanny pack or money belt works too
Sorry I just noticed the question on Travelers Cheques. I have bought them within the past year and
I just checked the web site and they are still available. I live in Massachusetts and use AAA Southern New England so they might be a regional offering. My sister lives in Virginia and I believe she was unable to get them there.
