Hey Tim,
Looking at that specific question, if you are asking what are the chances of the Dealer having a 10-Value Card in the hole (with the Dealer having an Ace showing), I can actually answer that question.
Unless the player is counting cards and knows when there is the greater likelihood of a 10-Value Card being there, then players need to know that a card can only be one of 13 things (Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen or King).
And so this means that there are Four 10-Value Cards out of the 13 possible cards.
And so that means that there basically is a 4 out of 13 chance that there will be a 10-Value Card in the hole when the Dealer has an Ace showing.
Four out of 13 is about a 30.7692% chance!
This is why if you are not counting cards why taking Insurance is not recommended (since there is a relatively low chance that the Dealer will actually have a Blackjack).
