banning of players for winning?

noahcat- " cranky pit bosses" - I love it when someone gets on a hot roll of the dice and the pit critters gather around and start sweating. Of course, after a few more winning rolls the B.S. starts "hit the back wall" "don't throw the dice so high"etc. As long as you and the others are losing the "bosses" stand back, smiling, as they assess the "pigeon" label to the losers. I have no sympathy for them- as they have no sympathy for you and all of the others who lose. Eventually if the bean counters and their bosses don't wake up there will be no one to play the games. Then the "pit critters" and their bean counting bosses can try to find a real job.

Cranky table pit bosses (are there any other kind?!?) always seem like it's their money you're leaving with

JM is 83% correct about pit bosses.

There are a few (17% ???) who are OK.

Then there is another category of pit boss.

I call him the Longhorn-type. LOL

He's nasty, crazy, and ugly too!!!

He actually goes out of his way to pick fights with players.

In fact, whenever I'm in the mood for a nice
confrontation I head out to Boulder Hwy.
to see him. He never disappoints.

Here's some classic moves by this guy.

Some lady was betting dollars and a few nickles now and then. She got lucky and won some hands.

He stuck his nose in and said something like this:

"The house rule is you can't increase your bet
if you win 6 (maybe he said 7) hands in a row.

Everyone at the crowded table cursed him out. LOL

Then there was the time I took my son in there to practice BJ because I knew the place would be empty which it was.

He jumps in again and says:

"He's playing too slow."

I said, "Yes, he's learning and I knew this would be the perfect empty spot to do it in."

We were the only players there in the whole place. LOL

Hey, we were winning about $15 at that point
so I guess he was getting nervous.

So there's cranky and then there's Longhorn
cranky. LOL

This is because they are confident we will eventually lose it back and more.

Fortunately, they don't know CLV and her winning ways!
The thought also occured to me that they(the hand-pay people) are Nice, cuz they are vying for a TIP. lol

(I don't play tables so can't comment on Pit critters)

P.S. Candy, you're not so bad yourself, Ms. Dealt 5 Play Royal, in DOLLARSl!!

I'm not treated badly winning at dice, since i tip pretty well... not crazy, but well. I don't expect love as a nickel crapshooter so I'm not surprised by the lack of comps. As a dead eye full pay player only, since wins walk out/go to safe/safe deposit... yada......therefore my offers have gone to merely pedestrian over the years. I'm not as well treated as my spouse, and I'm the rated player here. Half the time, my listed offers at harrahs aren't available when i call or logon, and i access these a couple times or more per month. Is it directly related to my history of taking the money? I have strong suspicions. Good luck!

Good luck!

Some casinos may very well also take into consideration whether you have won or lose when deciding who gets what (if any) future offer.

You know, I'm trying to remember if it was here or on the old Lodestond site (some of you oldsters, like me) might remember, but there was this one VERY high roller who hit jackpots of $400,00 and $250,00 royals at Harrahs. He had pictures of the machines with the Jackpot amounts, which he posted. Then at the end he posted a letter from Harrahs telling him he was no longer welcome at any of the Harrahs properties.

The audacity! I had suggested to him that he needed to get that picture of the letter to every newspaper in town (and the country for that matter), suggesting that this was proof that Harrahs are only interested in people that lose their money and that winners need not apply. Nothing came of it.

This leads me to suggest that along with others, quarter to dollar VP royal winners are in no danger of being tossed, and it seems that the employees have always been very happy for the players. I don't play table games at all, so I have no experience there.

But, and this is interesting to me: Harrahs Rincon has a $100 VP machine with 9/6 Jacks or Better and 8/5 Bonus Poker on it in the high limit area. Now I've seen hundred dollar VP machines before, but they always were three coin machines. This was a full pay, full coin machine (there are two of them). It made me think. Any straight or higher would requre a tax form. How could anyone ever get into any flow if you had to sit at a locked machine every three or four minutes of play?

The thought of being tossed doesn't worry me....ever...
Many moons ago I was playing at the Barbary Coast on a 10/7 DBVP machine at the quarter level. This was before TITO. I used to cash out only at nice even levels like 400 credits. It was easier to track my win/loss without too much effort. I played a long session and when I hit quad aces the machine dumped and “Call Attendant” for hopper fill flashed on the screen.

The slot critter drug a bag of quarters over to my machine and I moved out of the way while the hopper was filled. Once it was filled I resumed my position in front of the machine and began to scoop quarters into coin cups. I noticed that a uniform and the slot critter were still standing next to me but I thought it was because they wanted to make sure the hopper didn’t jam up.

I was about to insert my slot card and resume play when a higher ranking slot critter joined the others and told me I had to leave. I thought they had to access the machine to mark their little log book so I got up and stood aside. They opened the machine and turned it off and told me once again I had to leave. I asked if I could get my buckets of coins and take them to the cashier prior to returning to the Bellagio where I was staying. All three of them just glared at me while I cashed in about $500. No one actually escorted me out but I could feel stares as I walked away.

I did not even hit a RF and after a tally of my win for the session I had a net gain of about $600. This was in the early evening and the place was jumping full of people. I had read that the pit boss in the Black Jack area would not tolerate anyone who had a good run and asked them to pack it in but I never heard that anyone was asked to leave a quarter VP machine. I’m sure the philosophy is that they would rather fill that seat with novice players coming in from the Strip instead of an advantage player.

I don’t think I was “Banned” but I never went back in the place. It was a shame because I was having a good time winning at decent pay table VP, listening to a good band that I think was from Hawaii and sitting right on the Center of the Vegas Strip.

As others have mentioned I have noticed a large fluctuation with our offers from local casino marketing based on how well we have done on the previous visits. My wife used to get huge free play offers while I got a few bucks. She has been doing well the past several years and her cash offers have almost dried up.

Edit to say: I think Bob Dancer had an issue a while back when he hit some big, big RF numbers. If I recall his comps for suites and stuff like RFB were eliminated and possibly his slot card was denied but I don’t think he was “banned”. He was permitted to play but the perks that make a 99.6% game positive were skunked.

Jon-

Are you thinking about these wins by software developer Richard "The Quiet Lion" Brodie where he was then banned from Harrah's properties and the World Series of Poker?

For the "high rollers" who play those machines for any length of time, my understanding is that an attendant stays with them at their machine and logs every W2-G eligible hit on a clipboard, and then turns the jackpot reset key to change the lock-up into credits on the machine. At the end of the session, the player is given a combined W-2G for the total W-2G amounts won during that session.

I guess its official. If they 'cant figure out a way to make a profit' in casinos, HET suits will soon be in bed with trump, who seemingly never figured it out, either. Until then, Good Luck!
