Bob Dancer's DD VP book that good??

Hello all. I don't really gamble too much when my girlfriend and I go to Vegas. But a conversation last week about Vegas gambling with a gentleman kind of got me going.

Quick story:

This past Saturday I drove up to Irvine to trade in my 2008 Toyota Tundra for a used 2007 Chrysler 300 SRT8. Awesome car!! Anyway, when I got called to go into the finance office to sign all the paperwork, I noticed a little "Las Vegas" business card holder on the finance manager's desk. I asked him if he liked Las Vegas. The guy just totally started a conversation and wouldn't stop. But that was fine with me because I love talking about vegas with people that go as often as I do.

Well, he asked if I gambled. I told him yes, a little slot gambling. But then told him my girlfriend loves VP. The dude jumped out of his chair and couldn't stop talking about winning hundreds and thousands of dollars playing VP with his wife. Started talking about Bob Dancer's book and all. Told me I HAD to buy it.

I asked how often he goes and he told me every two to three weeks. He and his wife actually ended up buying a house out in Vegas 5 years ago, because they go so often. So all in all, these Bob Dancer books must be good? Lol! I actually just ordered one for my girlfriend as a Christmas gift.

Post your experience with these books if you use them.
I believe we have a question for you

.. why is he still behind a desk selling cars?

Haven't read any of Bob Dancer's books, but we learned vp strategy by using his software----very easy way to learn and very quick also. But remember, VP has a very small player edge, even when you find full pay machines---which are getting harder and harder to find. VP is all that I play, and I play nearly 100% correctly but in the short run you will win/lose more than you will over the long term and even in the "long run" you are looking at a tiny win. I play vp becuase I like the fact that you have to think, I find it challenging and fun, and my money lasts longer. 9/6 JOB actually is under 100% return and Dbonus (which I play) has only a .17% edge, so anyone who repordts playing frequently and usually winning, is likely exaggerating a bit.

You got a point there!!

First off, if he bought a house in LV five years ago, it's worth half or less than what he paid.

I'll preface the rest of this by saying I'm not a ranking member of the BD fan club. Nonetheless, his books are educational, informative and in some cases entertaining. They don't kill you with the math but explains enough for you to understand and figure it out deeper if you're so inclined.

VP has evolved to the point that you cant just look at pay tables and CB....promos, drawings, giveaways, etc. also need to be factored based on your situation and personal preference. For example, if you and the gf go on vacation a few times a year and you like cruises, you can look at promos that offer this as it's something you'd have paid for anyways. If you despise cruising, the promo is worthless to you. Same with rooms....if you're local, they're almost worthless but if you're a tourist, you need a place to lay your head.

VP can be a hobby that if played correctly and viewed from all angles pays but don't expect to get rich.the BD books VP for the Intelligent Beginner and Million Dollar VP (I think these are the names) are useful reads if you're trying to maximize your vp gambling return. The latter is entertaining even if you don't play vp but like gambling stories.

Very well said Dan. I love Vegas and try to go every 2-3 months. I am actually getting to like VP. What I really like is the BJ slots at Cesars. Its pretty much playing BJ with no other players. Love it!!

I have definitely found Bob Dancer's books very informative and useful, but with the stuff in his "Winners Guide" books, I don't care much for his "+" and "-" notations since they get too confusing for me. I much prefer his earlier reports on the games when he spelled everything out (such as something Double Inside with the number of High Cards)!

If you can handle that "+" and "-" notation stuff, good, but you do have another choice for getting playing strategy cards. You can get the strategy cards that are offered by Dan Paymar (those you can get through https://www.optimumplay.com and then from there go to the Cue Cards link).

I also encourage anyone who has any kind of interest in Video Poker to learn how to play it in the best possible manner. This can help a player cut down on their losses or even if they don't care whether they win or lose, this smart play helps to make it more likely that their money will drain away (if it does) at a slower rate than it could be.

David, very good information and key point about the players guides. I have two in my computer bag now that I travel with in case I suffer from insomnia. LOL

I was thinking specifically about the two books I mentioned as being good reads. Software from a reliable source, paid or free, is also a smart move. Knowledge won't displace short term luck but it will definitely pay off over time.

Dan

Sorry, double post.
Best thing about Dancer is he won't call you names in another forum if you disagree with his stratagies like the other guy.
