Boyd tier points?

We were MSS regulars (and sometimes Sam's Town) for many years, until the players club was decimated, I think around 2017.  The new players club based tier points on theo; Boyd never revealed specifics, but a lot of people clocked the tier point accrual and it was initially crazy, something close to $100 per tier point for 9/6 JoB (and of course, no CB or benefits at all at the bottom tier).

I've heard from others that they've loosened things up just a little bit.  So, does anyone know how much coin-in it takes to earn one tier point on 9/6 JoB nowadays?  Or maybe on 8/5 BP?  Thanks for the help!

I can relay what a friend says, which is that it still takes a ridiculous amount of coin-in to earn even one tier point when playing the few decent VP games still available. He used to play primarily at the Orleans.

It has never been easy to determine exactly what their theo calculation is for tier points. My experience is that in 2024, the last time I played there, $5000 coin-in on NSUD earned me ONE tier point. I walked away laughing.

My friend is a local, so he does get mailers. He says that what he's been getting has improved a bit recently. He maintains the Sapphire tier, but he admits that he plays slots to do it, since he learned that it would take over $3 million coin-in per quarter at VP to maintain it.

I don't have any recent feedback from visitors re whether they've loosened things up. I'd be quite surprised if they had.

I periodically check how many tier credits per coin-in per game I'm getting at Las Vegas Boyd properties. Here are the three most recent numbers I've observed. And they haven't changed in at least a couple of years.

$49 per tier credit on 98.91% Deuces Wild

$200 per tier credit on 99.73% NSUD

$64 per tier credit on 99.17% 8/5 Bonus Poker

Thanks, guys.  LVNow, this is helpful; Kevin, those numbers don't sound right, Boyd sucks but not that hard.

I remember in the months after the new Boyd players club roll-out (Google AI says August 2018), a bunch of people tried to do some reverse engineering.  The answer that they came up with was one tier point for every 50c of theoretical loss, so about $100 coin-in for 99.54% 9/6 JoB (and about $75K coin-in to make Sapphire and start earning anything at all).  LVNow's numbers sound pretty much like that, if NSUD takes $200/tier credit.  I had heard that they had loosened the numbers some (the players club won't tell you; they probably don't even know), but it looks like they haven't.

Yeah, I should have earned 25;tier credits for my $5000 play, but didn't. Since they set tier credits earning rates individually for each machine (and maybe each game in a multi-game machine?), it's very possible that a slot tech screwed that up on the machine I was playing.

What are they saying it takes to attain Sapphire these days, and how much and how often to maintain it?

It's certainly posible that you encountered a misprogrammed machine, sorry about that.  I'll keep asking around; not inclined to go give them a few hundred coin-in to clock it for myself.  Still 750 tier points to make Sapphire and start earning anything at all (bastards).

Not sure about the coin in for tier credits, but once you are at Safiare you are good for the next entire year, and on Jan 1st you start at 500 tier credits, not zero,  So pretty easy to maintain status,
