Craps

I have a question on Craps. I am a pass/come player, I always take the full odds offered ( I have never played at a 100X table). When I have played at Gold Coast they offered for me to replace the $5 flat bet when the shooter came out on 7. My home casino is M resort. I have played a lot of craps there. Out of the blue a dealer offered me the same deal. I am used to just getting my odds bet back Any feedback about the posibillty of this play? I prefer to keep my odds in play Thanks

If you like to keep your odds in play, just tell the dealer you want your odds working on the comeout role.
That's what I do.
I don't think you exactly answered my question. If odds are working and the come out is 7 you lose everything. What I'm asking is on come out roll with odds not working. Normally odds are returned to you. In the instances in question you are allowed to replace the existing flat bets and keep the odds in action.
Since the casino has a slight advantage on your come bet with odds, they are willing to let you replace the come bet and keep the odds in play. I think its kinda nice that they give you that option. I guess it's just a matter of personal preference what you choose to do. I usually keep my odds working on a come out role. But if I didn't, I think I would choose to replace the come bet and leave the odds on the table.

Acutally, they are shorting you on that bet. by losing the come out, you have lost the $5 come bet and get the odds back. by allowing you to replace the come bet and leave the odds up you are getting shorted on the payout. For example, if you replace the $5 come bet and leave $10 odds on a 5 or nine, you will get $20 back on a win (5 come and 15 odds = $20) if you simply place the 5 or 9 for $15 then you would get $21 back if it hit. By merely replacing the come bet and leaving the odds you lose a $1. It is worse on the 4 and 9. By replacing the $5 come bet you get $25 return on the win, but if you place the bet for $15, assuming you dont buy the bet, you return $27, a $2 loss.

So by allowing you to replace the come bet and leaving the odds they are making more$ for the casino.
Interesting analysis. I normally play 3/4/5 odds. I was thinking about the math on that. Once in awhile I play 10X play 10x (SCARRY IF IT'S CHOPPY OR COLD) Would this change your thoughts?

They are offering you a Put bet.
You can put one on any number you want, not just those that you had an established come bet on. Check the Wizard of Odds site (linked above) for the math. The short story is that a place bet is usually a better option if you want to stay on the number (unless you're backing it up with big odds).
I attended a Craps lesson - and still don't really understand it enough to gamble.
Does anyone know of a web based trainer/sim?

Thanks
Thanks for all the information. I've played a lot and tend to be competent on basic math but learned something new in this discussion.

See you at the tables! Darkstar
