Do Not Disturb High Rollers

Y'know, I don't patronize Rivers, but I friend of mine who lives near there told me the exact same story a few months ago. He said that he happened upon a blackjack area in the center of the casino with several guys in Arabic garb playing. He paused to watch for a moment, and an employee immediately came over and asked him to keep moving. Weird, but it must a policy at that place.

Yes -- welcome back, Ed! Where have you been? How are you?

On the subject, I don't like strangers standing behind me when I'm playing a machine. I get claustrophobic. I also worry that they may see me hit something big. I stop playing until they move along.

Hey, Cal and Sue! I just renewed my membership after a few years away. It's the old story. Jan and I gave up gambling cold turkey after getting pounded hard for about two years, then gradually came back. We now go to Vegas once or twice a year, instead of the 6 trips we had been taking, but it's safe to say we're back in the saddle. In fact, I hit a Royal last night at Harrah's, Joliet.

Zelvis, welcome back and CONGRATS on the royal!
Zelvis! Y'all still makin' pretty music?
Ditto zelvis

Sometimes it is a good idea to stand behind High Rollers when they are playing BJ.

Caesar's Palace 1992-ish? It's 3:00 AM and the wife and I are strolling through Caesar's. We see a cat playing BJ at a $100 - $10,000 table (not the HL room, just part of a regular pit). We stop- stand a few feet behind and watch the action.

Cat has a minimum of $100,000 in front of him. He's betting two/three circles- $1,000-3,000 per circle.

We are there for 3 - 5 minutes, not too long. He is winning in that brief time. He notices us. . . he turns. . . and casually asked, "Would you guys mind standing somewhere else?" As he asked the question he reached out to shake my hand. . . and handed me two $100 chips. I accepted the two blacks, said something like, "Absolutely my friend."

Off we strolled.
Glad you scored a couple hundred bucks. But I'll take pride and dignity, as chaste as that may sound. Let them have their privacy.
Hey, Tommy, IMO that was a class act on that high roller's part, and on yours too!
