Downtown video poker

Last time that I was downtown (MSS & 4Q) I played only J or B so I pretty much ignored the other choices.
I know that most of the machines were some kind of Bonus but can't remember whether they were Bonus, Double Bonus, Double Double Bonus or Super Bonus. I'm thinking particularly the ones that they would use in a VP tournament. I'm going back beginning of August and have the Dancer software so I would like to learn it properly. Can anyone tell me which one I should be learning?

Thanks
You will find all of the games you mentioned (and several more) downtown with paytables ranging from positive EV to totally crappy. It really depends on what your goal is. Are you looking to play with an advantage, or just to have your money last longer? Either way, I would suggest becoming proficient at more than one game if you have the time. But, for starters, there are some good BP games downtown at the quarter level (I am assuming you like to play quarter VP). And BP isn't difficult to master.

As for VP tournaments...they take a different strategy than playing a normal game.

I also suggest you check out vpfree. Search by casino or by game and see what is out there. It may help you decide which game(s) to learn.

Good luck in August!

Actually, DB is much more difficult to master compared to JOB. Bonus Poker isn't difficult to master since the strategy is similar to JOB.

Regarding tournaments, the Four Queens uses a 10/7 DB paytable.

I disagree.

My bad...I meant to suggest learning BP first, not DB! There are several good BP plays downtown (100.17%). I edited my original post to make the correction.

I sincerely apologize for my mistake. I was talking on the phone as I wrote my reply, and my mind was apparently focused on the conversation.

Thanks to alexlifeson and vegasvp for bringing it to my attention!

Where dt is there 100.17% return bp ?

Its Double Bonus...
Thanks for the responses - much appreciated

To play Double Bonus Poker more accurately, there are times when 3 Card Flushes (including with one and two high cards) should be held and Four Card Inside Straights should be held over other garbage (which mostly wouldn't be held in 9/6 JOB). So there are some strategy changes to be made with Double Bonus Poker.

But having said that, I do like the 10/7 version of that game!

I'm a BP man myself. I like playing at El Cortez because they frequently (promos) award comp points for vp at the same rate they do for slots...which is awesome. They have most popular vp games at the best schedules you'll find downtown.

I also keep my eye on the Progressive games at The D and The California. sometimes those get high enough to be irresistable Textft>
