Dumb Guys at the Craps Table

Okay. I'm not laughing anymore. At all.

What use can you make of the information you enter into Excel about your rolls at the craps table?
How does having that information about old rolls in your phone help you?

I've always wanted to ask these questions of someone who does these things, keeping track of old dice rolls, but I don't want to be rude like that at an actual table.

So you track all these rolls, and put them into Excel on your phone, then . . . what exactly?

Maybe if you're able to give me rational answers to these specific questions I won't be so incredulous about what now seems to be utter madness.
Chilcoot quote.."I've always wanted to ask these questions of someone who does these things, keeping track of old dice rolls, but I don't want to be rude like that at an actual table".
weggie's smartass retort.......'so you chose to be rude on the LVA forums?

Now remember, "I" am not claiming to be a great dice setter. "I' am saying that if I am going to a gun fight (play craps), I am going to bring a fully loaded gun.......try to dice set, play from the pass and don't pass, etc. I would NOT limit myself to the pass line, single odds and the occasional 6 & 8 bets If I was a blackjack player, I would be trying to count cards.......setting dice may not help, but then it certainly cant hurt!

Now as far as the old dice throws entered into the excel program at the tables. Its what you would do with any old information in any endeavor that you might be doing. I am new with this program (and not great with tech as a whole) but....... what I do is enter the info as best I can in the phone while desperately trying NOT to slow down the table, and then use the information in the program back in my hotel room at the end of the session to try to see if I can see which dice is causing me issues (or both) or the set itself and of course try to correct the issue.

You still haven't told me how you play? why not?

Okay, back to laughing.

What you're doing is crazy. Harmless, but crazy.

The sample size you're able to generate at a craps table is too small to tell you anything. Spend six hours at a typical table, how many rolls could you see? 500? 800? 1,000?

With the rules that casinos place on how people must shoot dice, and the way they design the table and the dice themselves, no human dice setter can gain an exploitable edge at craps.

Yes, people may sell classes, videos, and books on how to do it. But they do so for the same reasons people sell palm readings, horoscopes, and ouija boards: there are lots of really, really gullible people out there, and there's a lot more money to be made selling that crap than there is in employing those tactics to predict the future.

You know, the sun has risen in the east like 80 bazillion times in a row. It's totally due to rise in the west tomorrow. You should bet on it. PM me, I'll give you a good line.
The jury is still out as to whether dice setting is crazy or not, but trying to hold a constructive conversation with someone who will not say how he/she does something but feels it necessary to tell you that your wrong "is crazy!". Why wont you say how you play craps?
I assume by you saying the sample size is too small you know what the correct sample size is??? please let me know........... Question; does a golf coach wait until the tournament is over to tell the golfer what he's doing wrong because the bad swings on the first hole wasn't a big enough sample??
chilcoot quote; "yes, people sell classes, videos, and books on how to do it" blah, blah, blah......... I have taken multiple classes with professionals (I.E www.dicecoach.com for example ), have over 20 books on craps, and 12 craps videos and love to talk about craps at the tables when I see someone that looks like he has a strategy going. I do agree that "SOME OF IT" is crap, and some more of it is just not for me, but some of it has merit and deserves a shot.
Chilcoot, the world is not flat! you need to have a little faith that what "you" cannot touch, feel, or taste can still be real.

And to think I play craps just for fun.
The jury is not the least bit out on dice-setting any more than it's still out on perpetual motion. It doesn't work.

But you say you have 20 books on craps, and 12 videos?

Okay, I take it back. Dice-setting works for people who sell books and videos about dice-setting. Maybe you could do that.

If you have fun praciticing throwing dice in a box at home, then building a database about how your throws go in the completely-different environment of an actual casino craps table, be my guest. Just know you are wasting your time and appear to the world to be an ENORMOUS sucker.

Wise up, buy in for a couple hundred, grab a beer, and spread some chips around the felt, dice setting is a fun-minimizing fool's pursuit.
I have a better idea. We meet at a craps table in a casino in Las Vegas (different table each night) for 5 nights and buy in at a craps table for $300 each night. you drink a beer and throw some chips on the felt, I will set dice and play my way (indulge in a rum and coke)and we report the results on L.V.A

weggie44- your proposal to the All Knowing Chilcoot will not be taken -he is a troll who possesses an alligator mouth and a hummingbird ass.
Here, I'll report our results right now.

weggie44 and Chilcoot bet the pass line.
Each lost at a 1.41% rate, with minor short-run fluctuations due entirely to chance.
While weggie44 agonized over how he held and tossed the dice and frantically tracked each roll on his cell phone, Chilcoot had a few beers and actually enjoyed himself.
weggie rests his case
