Kudos? For converting to upright, taking away the progressive, reducing the slot club points? Funny way to look at it.

Yep, Kudos.

-They took away the progressive a long time ago, so that doesn't factor into the equation.
-The reduced points is consistant with other properties in town.
-The other properties that offer FPDW are only at the $.25 level.
-Playing the $.50 FPDW at 800 hands per hour equates to a $15 an hour play, before any slot club points.
-Adding the value of the points, you are at $16.25 per hour. This is the best play in LV at the $.50 level.

Remember, this is a property that has reduced the mailers and has taken away many of the decent games they once had ($2 10/7 DB and $1/$2 NSUD 3/5 play)

How would you look at it???

Yes, they took away the progressive a long time ago.....when they took away almost all the full pay. The .50 on FPDW will not last if it even exists now. I will not give serious play on uprights, nor will any serious player, because one can't play 800 hands/hr for very long. I will not be able to eat at my favorite restaurant there-Gardunos-for much longer, but neither will anyone else. Better check on a daily basis before you go by there to see what's still there. That's how I look at it.

Wow, amazing some peoples view on life. Congrats to the Palms for adding back FPDW. Don't care if they last 1 day, it's good to see.

Not true. I consistantly pump out over 1,000 hands per hour on the uprights at the Palms and at the Four Queens . And there are plenty of advantage players sitting next to me doing the same thing.

Read Bob Dancer's columns (4/10 & 4/17) about playing Quik Quads at the South Point on 2x point days for 5 and 6 hours. Guess what? These games are on uprights. Bob Dancer is the definition of a serious player!!

Maybe you won't give any "serious" play on uprights, but don't make a blanket assumption about other players...it ruins your credabiltiy.

While I would really like to see the nice, REALLY FAST slants at Red Rock get 50c FPDW, I would rather play on the uprights The Palms has now than the beat up slants they had before (progressive and countdown notwithstanding). There were singing electronics in those that drove me bonkers and some of the button lamps were way too bright. I do wish the just-installed machines were LCD instead of CRT.

And, yes, there are 20 of these machines at the Palms. They do actually exist.

Thank you, Palms. At least it's a move in the right direction.
Is there any way that the VP chip is altered to do things other than what is posted here.

I say this for it is an "AVERAGE" over time, and so here they are today, and gone tomorrow.

Set them up to not payout TODAY... but by year end, they are in complience....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I only say this for I have learned the Las Vegas Casino can change the chips out "AT WILL",

Compared the the Casinos at Atlanta City, that requires Gaming Commission to "witness" the change to any chip ... per change, per day, etc..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I am thinking here is, the Palms can do a quick Burst of pay table changes, but the LV Gamming commission does not, and will not likely be present, when those chips are changed...

For LV rules allow VP and slot chips to changed.. "AT WILL", by the casino.

The Casino MUST just provide documentation as to when each chip is changed, per machine.. VP or Slot.

I think someone from the Gaming Control Board has to be there when the chip is changed, or maybe to inspect the machine afterward to make sure it's a kosher chip. Lots of paperwork, too. Other people should know more specifics.

Nevada is tough; if the Board finds a crooked chip or machine the casino is looking at tremendous fines and negative publicity, possible revocation of their gaming license. Can't see anyone taking that kind of risk with a billion-dollar company.
On Video Poker machines in Nevada, I make the assumption that the random number generators and dealing/drawing algorithms are fair.

I also subscribe to the notion that the penalties (both administratively/criminally and in patron goodwill) for being caught cheating at a game "representative of live gambling games" would far outweigh the benefits to the casino.
The old slant tops were the most uncomfortable slant tops I've played. I am looking forward to trying the uprights.
I played them Wednesday. They are new uprights and are not slow. Not as fast as Red Rock but much faster than Sam's Town. Only about 8-10 people playing them in the three hours I was there. I hit deuces twice so it was a profitable stop.
