GAAH!

Heavy on the math. Also had a section on various promotions that paid over 100%.

I loved the old Palms. Food was exceptional. The French restaurant Alize on the top floor. Little Budha was my go to place for Chinese food in all of LV.

My niece was getting married and I hosted a dinner at Alize. About 10 or 12 guests. Had comp dollars to cover everything. What surprised me was I was able to use my comp dollars for the tip!

Mr, Maloof (was George his first name?) knew how to operate a locals casino. First The Fiesta and then the Palms.

Jerry Ice - I moved to LV in 1991. Love those trips down memory lane. Fond memories. Too bad the VP has gone way downhill since then,

Another one I liked to play was GoldCoast on 5x points days when they had 99.81 JoB Super times pay.  I'd play that in 5 play quarter.

I'm keeping most of these in the early 2000's-2012ish as I didn't play VP until like early 2000s and really missed out on good ones earlier.

Hit Hard Rock when they brought in $1 FPDW for about a month.

Barbary was always good.  Played a lot of 5 play NSUD.

Arizona Charlies had multi line 10/7 at $0.25 level but I was too much a coward to play it for some reason.

I even liked the old nostalgic 10 coin quarter at Skyline.  Just made me think of what Vegas was probably like in 70s and 80s.  I actually liked the place and the service was good.  Smoky though.

But that Palms one was the very best I did.  With 3x points coupons at 10/7, we were getting 101% basically before any comps being considered in there.

Would like to hear about some of your very best from 1991 and on since they are long gone now?

Oh, so MANY...

One that comes to mind is this casino east of the Strip, on I think the corner of Flamingo and Maryland Parkway...? called the Holiday or something...? Anyway, it was a smallish casino, more of a locals' joint than anything else. They gave 0.75% in points, which could be converted directly to cashback, and fullpay .25 Joker, which was and still is my favorite game (blast from the past last month when I hit the Plaza for play on one of the last two FPJW in the universe). They had a terrific little coffee shop, too. We were playing at a steady 101.5%, not considering the mailed free play and food comps we got. Play for two-three hours. Make money. Eat. Repeat.

Another play that's long gone was four-line .25 FPDW at the Santa Fe. It was on those TALL Odyssey uprights that usually had slot banking games (that were very beatable). At the time, Stations was giving 0.1% points, but there were lots of multiplier days. You could pump some serious coin through at $5 a hand...the play was worth an effortless $30 an hour.

Oh, and there was the WTF? gin rummy machine at the old Imperial Palace. I figured out how to DESTROY that machine by simply not trying for gin, but "knocking" as soon as I could, which would win you at least even money. You got ten draws, and could knock over 90% of the time. Imagaine a game where you win nine times out of ten! The coin max was $2.50. I played it several days in a row, then I returned on a Sunday and there was literally a hole where that machine used to be.

Those who label me as a cranky old curmudgeon who whines endlessly about how lousy Vegas is now never experienced those glory days. There were so many good plays, you could never play them all or even a significant portion of them. You could pull in $30-40/hr without breaking a sweat; this was the late 90s, so that was goooooood money. Set your own schedule, rent an apartment for $500 a month, and eat at the casinos for free until you explode. I basically only worked for amusement and because you can't spend your life in casinos, not because I needed to.

I forgot about the Odyssey machines. FPDW and 10/7 DB. Did they also have full play Jokers? Santa Fe, Fiesta, AZ Charlios Decatur. The one's at Santa Fe were directly under an AC vent. Had to wear a winter jacket!

I'm pretty sure they did have FPJW.
