Help Me Understand Points at MSS

I've gone to Vegas every year for like 20 years.  My main place to stay and play is Main Street Station.  I always use the players card.  When I go to the buffet, I give them my card and use any points possible.

Can someone explain how the points work?  Seems when I put the card in the reader gives two different numbers.  I now see a coupon in Amercian Casino Guide for a 5x multiplier.  Is that a big deal?  Does that literally mean my one comped buffet now is 5 comped buffets?

We play a lot of quarter (max play) video poker.  But reading others people trip reports we evidently don't gamble as hard as most.

Sidenote:  I play blackjack at night and play elsewhere as I find I get next to nothing for points at MSS at $25/hand over a 5 hour period.

I appreciate any insight.

Don.

You will see Card Score which is what is used to determine your level (Sapphire, etc).  Slot Points are what are used to pay for food or you can cash them out.  Any multipliers are for the Slot Points.  So, if you use the 5x multiplier coupon and you run 5K through in the day then your Card Score will increase by 5,000 and your slot points will increase by 25,000.  This 25k translates to $25 in cash or about $42 in food.  When you use your points for food, you are only charged 60% in points (if your bill comes to $20, then 12,000 slot points are deducted).  We always pay with points for food during our stay and then at the end cash out any remaining slot points.  If you play enough, the 5x coupon can pay for the ACG plus some!

I don't play table games so can't comment on that aspect.

Hope this explanation helps!

That does help!

Thanks!

You will also get "table game" points for playing blackjack and other games in the pit.  For those points to register you must check in when you buy-in and when you leave the pit.  You can use the table game points for comps just like the slot points.

i Have called the slot clubs at Boyd about using the AGC coupons on video poker. There are three AGC cuopons in the book, one for the Cal, MSS and the Fremont. I was told you can use all of them providing you use one a day at the casino indicated on the coupon. I was told the only restrictions on the machines is that they cannot be used on progressives. Has anyone heard differently?
