How long does it take to receive a sports book payout IN THE MAIL?

Hi - I won a small amount of $$ at Plaza Sports Book on the Blackhawks Stanley Cup win but had to mail my winning chit back to them to get paid, since I knew I wouldn't be back in town until at least October. Anyone have a history with sports book mail payments - what's the usual response time (if there is such a concept)?

Also a word to the wise - it cost me $11 bucks to mail the ticket back, as you have to use Registered Mail! Who knew??
I had three winning, um, "Big Game" tickets - one from the Palms, one from the Gold Coast. The Palms payment went through South Point and took about 2 weeks to get to me. The Gold Coast payment took nearly 4 weeks. The checks came to me here in Michigan, so YMMV to your hometown.

And no, you don't have to send them registered mail, though it's not a bad idea to prop up our postal system. I didn't. What you do need is to enclose a SASE, which might bump the cost up a bit because of extra weight and/or thickness.
We have maiedl in a couple of winners to the El Cortez and the time frame varies. We were told by someone who was working the sports book (think he was in charge) that they batch the mailed in tickets. They take care of them on a certain day of the week or whenever they have a large stack.
Interesting info - my ticket from the Plaza (Brandywine Sports Book) specifically states to return the ticket to them via Registered Mail - makes sense..if I ran the sports books, I wouldnt want some "winner" screaming at me that their ticket was lost by USPS. I'm sure this differs by each joint. And though it seemed like I sent that coupon back to Vegas WEEKS ago, I actually posted it on June 17, so I should just learn to be patient because all good things come to those who wait, right? RIGHT??

And just how much is this new owner going to mess up Bill's? So sad - it's one of my very favorite places in Vegas because I find it so comfy as opposed to being a spot where I win a lot. And what will happen to Seattle's Best Coffee francise, tucked away in the corner of the casino floor, where they have the Very Best Whipped Cream on Earth on their Cafe Mochas??? I'm annoyed.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

Sent in a $52 winning ticket to GVR after the super bowl via regular mail, and it was returned in a couple of weeks. For low-value tickets, it seems goofy to have to send via registered mail. I look on that as more of a strong suggestion than a rule. They certainly didn't return the ticket or refuse to cash it.
Consider sending it via certified mail; you can get an on-line verification that the casino received your letter and it is a lot less expensive compared to a registered letter. I mailed a winning ticket to the Venetian earlier this year...took about 3 weeks to receive my check. I kept a copy of my winning ticket just in case.

Spring Break 2000!!
Hi, everyone - thought I'd post a final update. Just received my payment check from Brandywine (Lucky's Sportsbook @ the Plaza) on July 17, exactly one month after sending in my ticket. The circle is complete!
I'm waiting for payment from a bet at the 4 Queens ($420). Was mailed registered 11/16. Sent reg mail but the numbers on my receipt from the post office have worn off from keeping it in my wallet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The postal service does keep a record of registered mail. Take your receipt and they most likely can locate the file copy for that date. This is for registered, not certified mail.
I've used certified mail over the years and never had a problem.
Return time seems to vary by properties....Coast Casinos seems to have the quickest turnaround, generally no longer than 3 weeks. The Hilton Superbook was super slow - at least six weeks the last time I had any winners there.
