Rick
We play .25 vp and I tell all my friends that I won't ever play nickel or dime vp cuz with my luck that would be the time I'd hit a royal and wouldn't get much of a payout for it!

He was attending a class at Red Rock but stayed at Arizona Charlies-Decatur since (1) it was cheaper and (2) Red Rock was sold out on one of his nights. He played 10/6 ddb at Red Rock and I had given him the location of the Quick Quad machines for AC-Decatur but he didn't look at the sheet with the info and said he couldn't find the QQ machine. He was playing a single line 9/5 ddb at AC-Decatur, held 3 to a Royal (clubs I think) and got the other two. He hadn't been winning at all on vp so he wasn't expecting anything to come of holding the 3 to the Royal - he didn't pause, say a prayer or anything - just hit the draw button and SURPRISE!

Rockymet - I will tell my husband your comment - LOL!

Your hubby did good, & Really GLAD it was quarters!

My hubby had some luck at Rio while killing time for me while I did a tourney sess.
He was Playing single line quarters, and wasn't expecting anything,
so he hit a Royal while only holding 2 or 3 cards. Surprise!
Glad it was him for a change.

Your turn next Jana.......

Congrats to your husband and hope you hit yours real soon

I believe that when holding 3 to a Royal, your odds on connecting is 1,081 to 1.

Rick
I haven't hit one yet, but I did get a straight flush at MSS last Sunday so yay me?

Since I am a mathematics teacher, I will confirm Rick's assertion. 1,081 to 1 is correct. The calculation goes like this: There are 47*46 = 2,162 different possible draws of 2 cards from the 47 remaining in the deck. You need two specific cards, but the order you receive them doesn't matter, so there are two ways you can get the cards you need. Let's say you need an Ace of clubs and King of clubs. One way to get those two cards is Ace, then King. The other way is King, then Ace. Therefore you have probability 2/2,162 = 1/1,081 of hitting your royal.

For the record, drawing to RF2, you have odds of 16,215 to 1 to hit.
