I had to complain to a pit boss about a dealer!

If enough people did that, and explained why maybe it would help.

Gee Ms. or Mr. casino employee....the BJ payoff odds are so bad here I need to play much more conservatively and thus rat hole my winnings so I can compensate for not getting 3-2 when I get BJ. Is there anything wrong with that?

This is from a person who never played a black chip in my life (in the spirit of full disclosure), so maybe I an unqualified to make this statement and should shut up but it makes sense to me.

Don't apologize, I've played BJ at the highest level and I think that's a fantastic idea. If the casino can do what's in their best interest without apology, then so should we. They act like we should be sheep led to the slaughter. Your response throws their crappy treatment of the player back in their face. Kudos to you. Even though I won't play 6-5, I'm still going to use your line.

I don't think there's anything at all wrong with complaining. If you were all that obnoxious they would have asked you to leave.

But in my experience, there's only one form of effective communication with casinos and their employees, and that's cash. I generally toke the dealers early and (relatively) often. The times that a craps dealer has gotten snotty with me I always make sure the rest of the crew knows who is responsible when they stop getting two-way bets.

Dealers also seem to think they can intimidate customers (for their own amusement? frustration with their crappy job?), but they generally back off if you give it back to them. If they criticize my betting patterns (off on place bets after two hits, for example) i start asking them in a loud voice how they'd like me to play, and ask permission every time I make a bet. They usually shut up when they see you're not cowed by a casino employee.

'Course, the down side to all this is it kills the fun. Probably better to just walk. They ain't the only game in town.
