I Won Something Stupid

I chased a bingo coupon at Silver Nugget the other day. Got a $225 bingo. And because the ball that won for me was some special ball, I got to pick an item from a prize case.

"Take anything you want, blue, red, or green, your choice!"

Um, okay.

I have a blender. I have a toaster and waffle iron. Pots, pans, Foreman Grill. Socket wrenches. Used to have a deep fryer, wised up. Hmmm.

Circular saw?

Yep, circular saw.

Who dreams of winning a low-grade power tool on a Vegas vacation?

What a random thing to win. Good thing I brought an extra duffel in my suitcase.
Would it have made a difference to you if the power tool had of been high- grade?
Chill - I love the Silver Nugget. It is a real hoot with good blackjack, beer, and food. I wish they would breng back the promotion from 2 years ago where Blackjack paid 3:1 on Fridays (for the first $10).

I had a Great Time there and I will be back in October.
You could have taken it to the Pawn Shop and Rick would have given you $5 for it, maybe.

Reminds me of the time that Excal had a "tool party". I guess they beat the watch and purse party angle to death and tried something different. Just by pitching up, you were give your choice of four Dewalt products. Barb figured out from the SKU that they came from Lowes and that's where they went back to in exchange for store credit for more practical things for us.

If you're not going to use it, you might consider Craigslist. I would agree a most unusual gift.

Nice work -

I'm thinking about using those match play coupons in October.

(ACG + MRB) x 2 (me and GF) = many chances at some power tools. I might take the pawning approach if we win though.

I have a question about Bingo in general and at the Silver Nugget specifically. How the heck does it even work? I've never played but can't pass up the advantage!

Silver Nugget website not too helpful. I can see that you can buy different packs for a given session. According to wizard of odds the highest expected returns are typically for the lower priced packs/cards, true at SN? Also, are there multiple games per session and do you need to play an entire pack per game or session? What time/day did you go and how was busy was it (another factor reducing your advantage)?

Thanks!
We played a 1PM session at Silver Nugget. When buying in at bingo, I always just throw myself at the mercy of the employees. I show my coupon, tell them I need $60 worth of bingo play for $30, tell them I want an electronic device, and they do the rest.

They give me a long paper receipt with a code on it. I then get a bingo device (kind of like an ancient iPad) from a big rack, take it to a table, sit down, and enter the long code into the device. From there, the device does everything, monitoring all 192 bingo cards I was playing last time. And if it starts playing a tune, I've got bingo.

It's not particularly fun as gambling games go, but it's a relaxing occasional diversion, and I win and win and win at it, somehow.
Great story....brings up a good subject....whats the craziest thing anyone else has won at a casino? Hard to beat yours but I'd like to see others.

I went somewhere once and they said "If you hit a jackpot of over $1000 you win a free six pack of Coke". I thought that if I won $1000 why would I care about a $2 six pack? Strange...
