jackpot payoffs

Good luck Tom. Let us know if you "beat the odds".
Tom-

As I hope you picked up from my post above, the machines that have larger top awards hit the jackpot less frequently than the machines with smaller top awards. Sizzling 7 has always been a popular game because of its frequent (but smaller) top award.

Double Diamond (3 coin): 1 in 46,656 for the 2,500 coin top award

Triple Diamond (3 coin): 1 in 93,312 (most games with a 4,000 coin top award) (some have odds as long as 1 in 16,777,216 (ouch), but wouldn't be commonly used)

10 Times Pay (3 coin): 1 in 1,728,000 for the 25,000 coin top award

Sizzling 7 (3 coin buy-a-pay): 1 in 4,096 (most common paytable) for the 1,000 coin top award

Please understand that these numbers are average numbers of pulls to hit the jackpot. In Nevada (and other regulated jurisdictions), the outcome of every spin is random, and the results of the previous spins have zero impact on the next spin. For example, if a Sizzling 7 machine hasn't hit the jackpot in the past 10,000 spins, it's not "due" to hit the jackpot any more than the machine next to it. By the same token, if a machine just hit a jackpot, it's not any less likely to hit one again soon.

knagl, how did you get this information?

I own a few IGT S+ and S2000 machines. The information can be found on the PAR sheets for the games, and a friend of a friend gave me a CD with a ton of PAR sheets on it.

While the payback percentage program of each machine is nearly impossible to determine as a player, the top award payouts generally never change for a game (ie. you're equally as likely to hit the top award on a 85% or 95% Double Diamond machine).

Take a look at this link, and click on Double Diamond. You'll see that each of the available programs (for the S+) have 72 reel stops. A quick and dirty way to figure out the odds of hitting the jackpot is to multiply 72*72*72 (for the three reels -- 373,248 combonations), then divide that by the number of top award hits per cycle (don't let the word "cycle" mislead you) (in this case, 8), which gets you 46,656. The odds of hitting the top award on a Double Diamond S+ 3-reel traditional machine are 1 in 46,656. The PAR sheet backs this up, too.

Knagl, thanks for all this information. I know that hitting the "jackpot" is a long shot, but a least there's a shot. I know what you mean with "sizzling or blazing 7's", but what I've noticed is that the top prize seems to come in more often the the solid 7's........maybe it's just me............Tom
Very cool, knagl, thanks for the info!
