Low Limit Blackjack

Longhorn and Bighorn have $2 games that allow you to double down on any two or three cards and offer surrender. Longhorn also has daily tournaments at around 1PM. Intersting crowds at both spots.

I'm not sure what you mean by virtual BJ. If you are referring to the Royal Match machines where players sit at a real table and are dealt cards by a video dealer, you are very mistaken. Most of these machines have good rules for basic play. When you factor in the fact there is no tipping required, the value increases, and you generally earn comps at a much higher pace than at a low stakes table game.RM games are great to exploit 8X points promos at a certain casino.

I THINK we're talking about the same games - the Shufflemaster machines with a big screen in front, smaller screens in front of each player (five seats), and a vritual dealer dealing cartoon cards. There's no table, per se, and the side bets are sometimes different.

I was being partly facetious in not recommending them. The rules are fair at some of them, but others pay 6:5 for blackjacks. Oh, and I've never had much luck with them, so I'll generally stick with living, breathing dealers. At least until the next time I get sucked in.
My fav is the single deck game at the El Cortez.
For the best low limit blackjack game in town with good rules and 3:2 on blackjacks go to the El Cortez. Great DD game with $3 mins as well as the only SD game that I know of with a $5 min in town that pays 3:2.

Just the facts, I wouldn't waste my time anywhere else for low limit blackjack and I would never sit at a 6:5 table.

Longhorn and Big Horn have $2 games that allow surrender and you can double down on any two or three cards. I'm pretty sure that works out to slightly better than the ECs $3 game, but you certainly have to factor in travel time into the equation. LH is on Boulder Highway and BH is pretty far north.
The problem with the Longhorn is not really the people or even the smoke.

It's their pit boss. He's the problem.

He seems to like to argue with patrons quite a bit. LOL

I think double deck at the 'Tez does not allow double down after splits. One of my favorite things to do. LOL

Otherwise, it's OK.

I think Longhorn's 6 deck rules have a better percentage compared to the 'Tez's double deck.

However, I prefer the 'Tez.
I prefer the EC ,as well. You can double down after splits on the DD games, but not on the SD games. Strangely, the EC put in one of those virtual machines with six decks and no Double after split, but they don't seem very busy.
Which PB are you talking about at LH? The short white guy with dirty blonde hair and glasses? It's funny because my last two trips to the Big horn, I found the PB very annoying. He's hard of hearing and gets up close to the players when talking to them.

No, not him. Never met that guy.

The guy I remember who pounced on players every chance he got was a little heavy with a middle European accent.

He was there for a long time.
I think he worked the 12 to 8 PM shift.

The guy before him was a white-haired guy who left about 7 years ago to go into the carpet business with a relative.

He was a very nice guy.

As far as the 'Tez, when I was there last month
some guy playing double deck tried to double after splitting and the Asian male dealer said,
"No." LOL

I looked at Wizard of Odds BJ survey updated on April, 2011 and it says you can double after splits on their double deck game.

So the dealer was probably wrong.

It did not come up for me but when I'm there next time I'll make certain they know their own rules. LOL

Thanks for making me aware of that.

As you know, I play BJ all over the valley
so I'm at the point that I trust the place knows their own rules.

Maybe I have to return to my old ways and always asking my 7 questions:

1:"Can you double down on any 2 cards?"

2:"Does that include after splits?"

3: "How many times can you split like cards?"

4: "Does that include aces?"

5: "Do you offer surrender?"

6: Does the dealer stand on all17's?"
(I've played at places where the table did
not say one way or the other).

7: "How many decks are there?"

I'm leaving Friday afternoon and plan to be at El Cortez Saturday to check this out..

Please do be aware that at the Single Deck tables (at least some of them) at El Cortez that the tables offer Players the terrible Royal Match side bet which gives the casino an additional advantage of almost 4 Percent (at least according to the Wizard Of Odds)! So please do not make that side bet!
