main street scratch cards

It does seem like a stupid policy change. As for insisting that you play off your quad (or whatever hand), I guess that's a custom (always thought it was dumb, though), but they absolutely can't require you to play another hand.

Well, I can understand your point but I also understand why they would want a hand to be played. Someone might sit there for a while and not play and then hit the light indicating that they got a quad when it was the same one that they got before.

That's clever, Alex. I wonder if there's any easy way for the slot attendants to pick up on that kind of scam.
In my previous life as a casino employee, we had a similar promotion. Most customers gladly played off their jackpot hand. For those that didn't, our slot attendants would play it off to prevent someone from claiming the same hand twice. On the coin machines, they would take 1 coin out of the hopper to play it off. They also carried small denomination vouchers to play off the TITO machines.

I have no idea how MSS handles this promotion, but I assume they have some controls in place. They have been running this promo for years, and should have the bugs worked out by now.

Just stayed four nights at MSS, Feb. 14-17, and hit more than a dozen 4oak... each time I had to scratch card in the presence of the attendant and play off the hand. It was explained as the new policy to prevent cheaters from making double claims.
Well, it's no big deal to play it off, and I generally will continue to play anyway. I'm questioning the ability of the casino to compel you to make another bet, don't think they can. I imagine that there would be a relatively easy way for the attendants to verify that this is indeed a new quad or jackpot, not an old one that's already been paid, especially nowadays with all the associated software.

This seems to be a superstition of sorts; I remember my mother-in-law telling me that "you have to play off your jackpot." I'd ask her why, and she'd tell me that you just do.

My 1st 3 days at MSS I plan on spending a ton of time on their VP. I'll just have to make do with the new rules.

I wonder if the quads apply to thier 3/5 line quarter machines?? I hit a couple quads on those in October and didnt think to call the attendant.

Oddly enough I dont ever remeber waiting more than 2/3 seconds after they have given me my scratch offs in the past before starting my next spin. Something tells me that the next move may be to get rid of the scratch cards or make sure that none of them are more than $2.00 .

BTW Prof...What was the largest denomination scratch off that you got??

T- 19 days and counting!!
Champster, as long as you are betting max bet on the 3/5 line machines you can claim a scratch card. Remember also that MSS will give you a scratcher for a straight flush or royal too, at least they always have in the past.
As for our biggest denomination scratcher ever, it's $10 with several $5 in between. The $2 is the standard payout. We've played MSS since the promo started way back when.
Good luck on your trip in a few weeks!
Thank Brenda. I have always double booked MSS in the past with a Station room (I.e in August MSS and Aliante) and then stayed at the Stations. I always make it a point to get to MSS and I figure book a freebie in case I dont want to drive back. Now that Stations are getting faly and Boyd is giving me rooms and feeding me and giving me free slot play, I figure that I'll give them more play on this upcoming trip.

This will be my 1st all MSS solo 3-day stay (then moving to Ballys for 5 days with a double book at Orleans and Gold Coast). Looking forward to cashin in at least 2 dozen scratch cards... a day!!
We played there end of Jan into early Feb and can confirm the attendant will now ask you to scratch the ticket in front of them. I'm sure it's to try and control fraud.
