MGM Free Play and Points

Does anyone know if MRI properties give you points on free play? A co-worker of mine has over $1000 in free play and was curious.

I do not believe so. I have watched the point counter and it does not move on freeplay.

He was wondering because he usually plays through his free play once and cashes out but thought if he was ahead he would take the chance to rack up some points on free money.

Free Play and Point Play are not the same thing. I am guessing that your friend has $1000+ in Point Play, not Free Play because Free Play expires if not used immediately.

Free Play is given with a promotion, e.g. "Two nights and $50 Free Play" or Free Play won in a slot tournament, somthing like that. It is good only during the specified period of the promotion or slot tournament rules, or you lose it. (I learned this the hard way.)

Point Play is points (dollars) earned by your own play on slots/VP, etc. (I don't know if table games earn Point Play.) Point Play dollars are good for an extended period, like 6 months or 1 year or something. At MGM properties used to be 18 months. I believe you do earn points while playing them, but can't swear to it.

I would assume it is Point Play. When he logs onto to his MRI account it shows up as dollars sepaarate from his express comps and regular points. He is strictly a BJ player and his wife uses the free play on slots. He is Platinum level hence the big dollars in play.

Yes, that would be Point Play and it does show in dollars on the web site. His wife is using his Point Play dollars when she plays slots. What teamwork! LOL. She may also be using Free Play that comes with an offer.
