Would anyone else like to share their stories on this topic? I will be in Las Vegas in August, and I expect I will give this a go, should conditions not deteriorate any further. I will post back with my story.

I bet you never really found out if the machine you were playing was actually eligible.
Some machines had the stickers pulled off of them and the line was so sorry, but that machine is ineligible we can't prevent people from pulling off stickers and make every effort to replace them, if you have any doubts you should ask at the cage......none of the high limit machines were eligible when I was there in may, so the 3 you saw were just missing their stickers. We are going back next week so I can cash in my voucher and let my wife try the promo....did you happen to get the machine number? I have no fear of asking for clarification....my gut says any machine that would allow $150 a pull is not eligible....I found one that had $10 a pull and after $40 realized it had a sticker, it was a shame I actually did ok for the 15 minutes I played it before I noticed the sticker when I put my second $20 in.

FWIW, I read on the American Casino Guide Vegas Values for this week that this promotion has been discontinued.

Figures....5 days before I return, and was going to sign wife up for promo, they discontinue it.
As long as my voucher is still good...I found you can run the freeplay through video roulette
make 17 bets on 1-17, 17 bets on 18-35, and 1 each on 0 and 00......you wind up with minimal loss and dont have to spend hours running it through their crappy VP.

I took a photo of a Riviera machine number on my cellphone camera that I wanted possbily to check on availability it states "13188" but I am not sure whether it is the African Diamonds or the allegedly available reel slot in the High Limit area.

As for the Riviera promotion I see that the Riviera's own website still touts the offer:

but like almost all casino offers, it will be subject to cancellation or modification at all times.
